Default No rev limiter on the Euro S?

I briefly spoke to Jim today when I ordered some parts.
He mentioned that only the original rotor and cap in the distributor has a cetrifugal rev limiter. Once one changes the cap, there is no rev limiter.
Has anyone found a fix for this?
It's pretty scary to head out on the track with no rev limiter.

At what point will the old 4.5L engine bend something for short term over-revving? 8k RPM?

I've never had even the most remote issue with hitting a rev limiter with the non rev limiter 928, so i wouldnt be too worried about it. However, i did have one brush with disaster, when I found 2nd gear instead of 4th at road america. (rev limiters cant help here )

I think Scot had a mis shift at Sears last weekend and it did rev to about 7000, but it was only for short period of time.

The LH Euro S does have a limiter just like any LH equipped 928...BUT I think all of the CIS Euro's will spin until something goes BLAMMO..... For some reason I remember driving someones 78 5 speed and missing a shift (bad syncros) and watching the tach spin to a shade past 7k when I left off the gas.....oops....

I believe its actually the rotor in the CIS Euros that has the mechanical rev limiter. A number of years ago I tried to get one, but never could find one. I used my '83 Euro S for open road racing and a number of track days as well as "spirited" street driving for years with no problems.

Hi

Yes its in the top of the rotor arm, same as the old UK Ford Capris...it works on a centrifugal spring system and is not exactly accurate....age and spring wearing can alter rev limit...

They used to solder a wire from the centre of the rotor to the tip to bridge out the limiter or fit a later Bosch rotor with NO limiter...

All the best Brett

So mine is a CIS...
Hopefully I won't forget to shift on the track some time.
