EZK relay doesn't activate
Injectors are clicking with ingnition on and engine not running. Swapping with my spare EZK and LH modules displays same symptom. So, I start trouble-shooting. One problem - EZK relay XVI tests good on the bench but will not activate in the car. Relay coil pins are 85 and 86. 85 of the relay socket is a good ground. Socket connection 86 shows no voltage with key on. Is it OK to jump the EZK relay (30 and 87) to see if the car will start and run? (So I can rule out bad brains.) Why is the relay not activating? How might this be related to the alarm system (I don't have an alarm)? <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" />

Injectors clicking with ignition on/engine off is the usual sign of a bad LH-ECU.
It is possible but unlikely that a U.S.-spec '87 doesn't have an alarm. Are you sure that you don't have? There are no signs or indicators that there is a factory alarm on the car.
Roll a window down and lock the car using the long key. Reach inside and unlock and open the door.
The power to terminal 86 in Relay XVI (the EZK relay) is routed thru the alarm. If the alarm is set, there is no pwer to terminal 86.
Shouldn't be any problem with jumpering terminal 30 and 87 of relay XVI as a test.

Wally - I jumped the EZK relay and the injectors were still firing without the engine running. My first guess was bad brain. I guess the only way to be sure is to test my LH-ECU's in another car. I bought a used LH-ECU about a year and a half ago to have as a spare and tested it in my car to make sure it was good. Haven't tried it again until now. Could it have gone bad, too? Texas summers + black interior = HOT!! I kept it in the glove box with the idea that it wouldn't do me any good at home if I was stranded somewhere.
I only got one key with my car - a short one. Maybe my car has an alarm system. Any other way to tell? Thanks!
