My Euro 83 (also Jan 83) is DS840812, just 25 cars away, and, I know another here in Riyadh that is DS840838, very next car!!
Sad stuff.

Cool

Well, as the owner of FS841526, I'll wade into the fray-

The car shown in the first pics above is indeed a bit sad. Though it can be had for a few thousand, and can be made right for several thousand more, it is a sad commentary about our world that art objects such as 928's are routinely subjected to the depravities of people like the PO of my car, who basically cared only that other people would see him driving a car with that famous name molded into the plastic rear panel.

That pretentious bastard; I hope he winds up driving a Hyundai~

Really, a few days ago I wound up with friends in Key West. Bars, souvenir shops, and art galleries abound at the end of US1 on Duval Street. Fun-land. Hippies and gays and people who just don't want to care anymore, or who want to simply be themselves and do what they feel like live on "Bone Island", the literal translation of the original Cayo Oueso. I've seen several sharks swimming in the "waters", and not the kind with fins either. The daily big event is watching the sun go down on Mallory Square.

I walked into a gallery, drunk as hell, and dripping with Abercrombie and Fitch baggy shorts and a t-shirt. Of course, the rather flighty owner gave me his immediate attention [sigh..they usually do- ], and I found out that what had drawn me into the shop, a wonderful glass sculpture of a dolphin nearly a meter high, was priced precisely the same as my shark was 3 years ago- $10,600.

-I can bet you that the individual who purchases that dolphin will not ever let it fall to pieces like that poor shark has been allowed to. I've harped to my intellectual friends for years that they are intellectually pretentious for looking down upon me for having an interest in cars.

I simply feel that art is not always found on a canvas...

Greetings,
Some things I noticed. I too have an '83 Euro and mine also had the front fenders replaced rather than adding on the marker lights in front of the front wheels. Mine is serial number DS840950, so a hundred + cars later than the unit in question. My car came with the 8" headlights intact, but the dumb US spec fog light/parking light duo, US speedometer, HVAC control that is metric and warning lights are in German. Sad to say, the interior of mine was not too much better than this one so I have much work to do there.

I believe the correct motor number for this vehicle should be 28/12 since it appears to be an automatic. 28/11 would be a 5 speed motor. Do you suppose someone changed out the motor? I guess it is possible. arrgh!

Best Regards, <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Thumbs up

I wish I had the time, I'd adopt the poor thing and bring it back to health. It deserves better than the PO.
Normy expressed my sentiments exactly! The 928 is art. Mine never fails to draw attention and positive comments from admiring strangers. Heck, I catch myself making special trips through the kitchen and down the back hall to the garage just to admire her beauty. My wife thinks I'm crazy. She's right. I'm hooked. I'll never sell! They'll have to bury me in the damn thing.
