Default "bumperettes" trade?, looking for replacement..

I just picked up a "new" 87, new to me and it has been repainted in a way that doesn't make me happy, so I'm in the process of trying to make it good.

They painted the rear bumperettes a nice shiney black. Not a bad job, but I don't want them shiney, so if anyone has a good regular set and is interested in a slick black set, I would like to trade. Or,... if someone has a good set that they want to sell reasonably??? whatever that is, I would be interested.

I also need the rear quarter window trim,(both sides) but that is probably also a long shot.

Thanks
Rod

Talk to Roger, he just had his removed from this GTS. Don't know what he will do with them, but they are just sitting around.

So, Roger, how's it going? Seen any good-looking loose "bumperettes" lately. (for the car)

Rod, Have you thought of re-painting them body color? I did mine that way and I'm really happy with the outcome. I think it updates the look of the rear end. (Porsche is now painting the bumperetts on all the new cars.)

Actually they have been repainted the body color, but for some reason, everything shiny just doesn't look that good. I have a painted wing and like that, but...

My '86.5 bumpers were painted and eventually started having small cracks show up. I thought there was a flaw in the rubber material so bought new. Years later while trying my new buffer on the '81 O got carried away and burned (scuffed) the bumpers on it. Knowing I had another pair I brought them out and tried cleaning them up (they did look better than the burned ones. While cleaning them with carb cleaner (great stuff, maybe one day will use on a carb) The paint/clear began to come off. A few more minutes and had a pair that looked brand new. It may take a while to melt the clear coat, but after that cleanup is quick. Hope this helps.

Yes, body color bumperettes really do update the look of the cars. All the new Porsches have them painted body color. Maybe trade your gloss black set to a person with a black car.

Yep, that's the idea.

I don' t know if it updates the car..or just says...I didn't tape off for the re-spray at MAACO (at least for the the 928 which came with black non-shiny plastic ones)...

For me, it's the second option. That's why I'd like to trade with someone who likes the update interpretation.
Now I'm more or less in the process of returning most things to normal.

Wow, that sounds too good to be true. (Did the seats catch fire and you don't want to tell me? )

I'm sending the car off to Rob Budd this weekend, as soon as I get it back I'll take them off and send them to you.

(Incidently, I appreciate it, but you don't owe me anything, so I'll pay shipping, no problem. That's still a great deal from my point of view - so charge me. I understand that things happen that we have no control over and it's important to me that you stay in business - pure selfish motivation.)

Thanks
Rod
