I want to know if the 928 ever came with a stainless exhaust from the factory.

That's an easy one Tony - all 928 OEM exhaust system are stainless steel, from the exhaust manifold connection to the exhaust tips - sucker weighs a ton and lasts forever!

You were quick to chime in that the exhaust is stainless steel, but what alloy? Does anyone know for certain. I suspect 303, but can't find any evidence to confirm.

I got a chance to inspect my exhaust system the other day while the car was on the lift. I was amazed that a 21 year system still looked new. Granted my early 86 lived indoors in Georgia all it's life not subjected to snow and salt.
But still that it is a testement to the quality of parts sourced by Porsche for their "heir apparent"
