Post Touch Up Paint - Intake & valve Covers

Rather than pulling these covers and getting them painted- is there touch up paint available? I just have a few flakes coming off.

Also, I was thinking of painting the word Porsche in Black and 32v in red - any good paint sticks for this.

Again, I dont want to remove anything - just touch it up.

If they are flaking on the outside, they are probably flaking on the inside. This is what mine looked like underneath.

If the paint is flaking off, touch-up paint may not stick either.
After powder coating, I got the idea from Tony H. to use Testor's paint pens. Available at most hobby stores. The tip width was just right for painting the letters.

Wow! That looks great! What a difference this little detail makes. Looks like your original paint is still in pretty good shape.

The problem is that once the flaking starts, you probably can't stop it. Touching it up may make it look better for a while, but the exposed metal would have to be very thourougly cleaned, and the oxidized layer removed for the touchup paint to stick properly.

Hey Mike - What are those tubes above your fuel rails? What year is your car?

My car is an '88. Those tubes are supposed to be stealthy, discreet, and as stock looking as possible. Of course every single person that's seen the engine, or pictures of it, has noticed and asked about them. Only one person has noticed one of the other two modifications that are visible.

The tubes are air/oil separators that I made for a modification to the crankcase breather system that I did.

Oh, I noticed both. I just cant look at your engine too long - something in me says "gotta have it too".

Even more incentive to make one of the local get togethers!
