[quote] I believe the DESIGN 90's were like that...as well as the sought after Club Sport Rims (right Adam : ) )

Got that right Tony! The Wheels to get are the Club Sport Rims. They came only on the '89 GT and some 944 Turbos. These are forged wheels like the flat disks, not pressure cast like the design 90's. They are very strong and reasonably light. The only downside is that they are 16's, so no Big Reds. The front rims the 8" width are the most difficult to find. These came only on the front of the '89 GT and 944 Turbo S. The GT rim has a 60mm offset, the '44 Turbo S has a 52mm offset. The GT rim is actually the '44 rim with the lug bosses milled down 8mm, and the "52" which is cast into the inside of the wheel is ground off and a "60" stamped over it.

The coolest wheel there is, especially when polished.

A few months back there was a complete set of these very same rims for sale in the Rennlist classifieds. They were refinished and looked immaculate. Asking price was $1,600.00. A friend of mine bought a set of the 944 turbo rims (for his 944S2) that look similar to the 928 for $700.00 (they were straight and true but cosmetically very rough). They certainly are not giving these rims away.

The wheels on my 79 look like the ones in photo (after painting). My wheels have the relief cut near the edge of the rim around each hole, like the flat dish rims. Do the design 90 wheels have these relief cuts? Or do I have rims off another Porsche?

Gretch,
your '89 forged Club Sport rims are rare. Not the 9" rears(they came on 944T also), but the 8" front. They only put them on the '89 GT and euro Clubsport model. '90-'95 928 models all had 7.5" fronts. I am hanging on to mine to help re-sale at some point because they are so rare. FYI, I had 2 sight unseen offers for $800-$1000 for the set.

I've got 9" Clubsports all around. I love them. I also have a set of 8's and 9's I've been saving for a special occasion. FWIW, if you can get a set for $800 to $1000 get 'em. I paid more than that for mine.
