riktheimpaler,
Please start a new thread describing your question in the header/title line. Your question is legitimate, and I (and likely others) would be happy to help. However this is Nadine's thread, and as a matter of consideration, the topic should stay on her subject.

nadine, i would disagree with brett. dont go for the 315s - they are a lot of extra money and wont fit without some dicking around - if at all. for that rim a 295 is absolutely fine and all you will need. i have 315s on my 18x11 but that is with a GTS rear arch, on my 19x11 i currently have a 285 but have run 295s as well - the 295s needed clearancing on my 88 SE.

So if I went for 295/30/19 for the rear on the 11 inch rim then would it be just plug and play ? Although my arches are rolled, would this size be the best option? What did you mean by clearencing on the 88SE ? Did you mean rolling the arches or did you have to use spacers when using 19x11 and 295 tyres ?
Thanks
Nadine

It depends on wheel offset. With correct ET 295 will fit withput problems. With too larger ET spacers are needed and with too small ET rolling has to be done. Thats why everyone is interested what ET wheels you have on order. If ET is way too small or large there is no way to make them fit.

nadine, i like both of the tyres you mention - ive got the falkens on my 19s and im running the toyos on my old 79. erkka is correct and comparisons cant really be made untill we know the offset. fwiw i had about a 25mm spacer on the SE and i had to roll the arch a tiny bit!

Hi All
Back....
The point Nadine is REALLY about offset....
If you look at the quote above from Nick....it sounds fine...UNTIL I tell you that on my 18s (smaller) 245 would NOT fit...because my offset on front wheels was 50..with a 50 offset you will NEVER get a 245 on 19s and I seriously doubt even a 235...you may not even get a 225 as those are 19s not 18s...
The rears are similar apart from the fact there IS more clearance BUT...we need to know the offset, as most tyre centres are NOT going to fit tyres and let you try them round the block to see if they rub , etc...
Nick is correct, you may need to either remove or add spacers depending on offset....you don't have to understand offset....just ring the suppliers and ask and post their answer here, and we will say which tyres WILL or WILL NOT fit...
All the best Brett

What the above posts say about offsets is all spot-on. If offsets aren’t known, what tires will/won’t work is just speculation.
Assuming that Nadine bought these new, and specifically ordered them for an '87 S4 with rolled rear fenders, I'm going to guess the offsets are 57mm front; 52mm rear.
Aside from the offsets, the width of the wheel will make a difference as well. The fact that the fronts are 8.5" will make a slight difference in the fitment of a 235 or 245 tire as compared to that of an 8" rim.
My 18" x 8.5" 59mm offset fronts take a 235 PS2 with no problem whatsover. I'd venture a guess that 245 would fit as well; possibly with minimal lock to lock rubbing - but no inner fender issues - even though my offset is 2mm more than Nadine (assuming the above offsets).
It would also make sense that 235's would create problems with 50mm offsets as Brett mentioned. We're talking close to 3/4 inch of wheel protrusion out toward the inner front fender over 57mm offsets - certainly enough to make a difference. Brett, I'll bet that you're not even close to lock-to-lock inside tire rubbing with those offsets.
Art, are your fronts 8.5"? If so, your application should answer the 235 question.
I have 275x35x18" PS2's on 10"x18" 54mm offset spacerless wheels in non-rolled GT rear fenders. I probably couldn't get to 295 w/out slight rolling, but Nadine's in a whole different league with 11" and rolled fenders, so I can't weigh in on that exact application. I can say that although 275 is nice and wide in unrolled fenders, 295 looks really nice in rolled fenders, and is plenty wide. 315 is downright beefy (as many rollers can attest).
If I were in Nadine's shoes, I'd set my safety zone at 295 rear and go for max. width in the front (without adverse effects) for aesthetics and to keep the front to rear width proportion closer to stock.

Hi
My front wheels are 7.5 x 18 (50 offset) and you are correct.....with a 245/45 I cannot even turn the steering wheel ONE INCH before the tyres HIT the back bottom of the arch on my S2...oh and centre caps no fit any more lol as bearing cap protrudes too much...
I had to go for 225/45/18s , which are fine...but still no centre caps...
My rears are 275/45/18 (65 offset)....all ok but had to lose the 21mm spacers fitted from new and fit steel race nuts....centre caps fit though...
The reason I tried 245/45/18 on the front was that excel spreadsheet from here....it SAID they would fit !!! but they DONT!! take my word lol....dont know why, maybe its the S2 arch shape (different to an S or S4) ???
All the best Brett

Ok here are the offsets:
Front: 19 x 8.5 ET45
Rear 19 x 11 ET52
Please can someone confirm that these rims will fit the S4 and what tyres as I am about to pay for them soon.
Thanks
Nadine

As i said in my pm, you need advice from someone with 19s already but looking at those offsets....they are WAY too low for an S4 I think....
I had MAJOR problems on front of mine with 50 offset..and yours are 45
Lets see what anyone with 19s thinks...

If you are sure that these are the offsets for these wheels, the fronts won't work! Sorry to tell you that, but you're lacking 15mm of offset for the fronts. This will put the wheel out past the fender. Aside from not physically fitting, it will look bad, and handling will be all over the place (tramlining). There's nothing that you can do to make 45mm offsets fit & work right in the front. I'll admit that I haven't tried this, however I'm going on a thread some time ago in which an S4 owner tried a set of 17" 45mm offsets and couldn't get them to fit no matter what he tried. I wouldn't let the excitement of how nice these wheels look, or the deal that you might be getting on them cloud your judgement in getting the right wheels for your car.
Sounds like you found these as used wheels, and I'm bummed that they won't fit. They were a nice find if they'd fit.
If they're new, simply get the correct offsets (the offsets that I speculated on in the above post).
As Brett says, the best advice is from somebody who has actually tried these offsets with 19's on an S4.....but you may not find that person. I'd put some stock in experiences with 45mm offsets regardless of wheel size (height). In the mean time, I'd hold off and heed our warnings.
