Default Sun Roof a "bad" thing???

After reading and reading posts on this site ( I've only been a member for a few months ) Its appears to be the consensus that a sunroof is a bad thing and that non roof cars are more desirable. Why??? Granted the sunroof is more like a sun slit but I truly would rather have one than not. Just curious why others feel they are a draw back.

I think guys like them for increased helmet clearance for track use.

I like my sun slit!!

yes, it is because the non sunroof cars have more headroom.

I like mine but I do rub my head on it sometimes if I'm craning my neck to get a close angle view in the side mirror like in my old driveway where you could put a wheel off the edge of the cement if you aren't careful. That's the only complaint I have...I wouldn't delete it if I had a magic sunroof-delete wand though.

They are heavy, they leak , they often do not work, and most of all they take away too much headroom .... I personally do not fit in a sunroof car but other than that they are great problem is after 1980 there are very few none sunroof cars. I have only seen ONE S-4 that was a special order car without the sunroof.

DITTO I like the sun slit, but during track events, it is uncomfortable with the helmet, I keep banging my head

I also prefer the sunroof on a crisp morning/evening. Midday can be trying if the sun is beating down on your head but ottherwise I love it!

Note: I don't track my car so no helmet clearance issues here....and well I'm not that tall either.

Yeah, I'm thinking a good poll would be...

Would Jim fit through a 928 sunroof?

The slot is only about 12 inches that might be an issue if I tried to exit via the sunroof It would not be a pretty sight !

At the times of year (spring and fall) when it would be nice to open the roof, the sun is at a low angle and often shines straight into my eyes, blinding me. In the summer, here, it is much too hot to want ambient air in the car; in the winter, too cold.
I would like to have had a fixed glass panel, or one that cracks open upwards at the rear, like the BMW 6-series, with a sliding cover. That way, you could save the space required for the sliding roof to drop and retract, gaining precious headroom, but still get extra light into a cabin that can seem a bit claustrophobic.

I like my sunroof exactly like it is. While I would like to try out my car at the track, it's not something that is a must at this point in my life, I'd much rather have an enjoyable road car. I do much of my driving at night, and the glaring sun problem is really a non-issue the vast majority of the time. I just don't like where the switch is; have accidently hit it with the window switch a few times in the rain resulting in a slight shower.

Reminds me of the guest preacher, when his hosts brought out the rattlers for the snake handling service. When told there was no back door, he simply asked "where would you like one?".

I'm 6'1" and have no problems fitting in my sunroof equiped car. Mine doesn't leak. I don't track my car so I don't car about how much it weighs. I think the sunroof issue is a little overstated. I would much rather delete the rear AC unit over the sunroof.
