follow up on no crank
First I want to thank Wally P for the information.
My '89 S4 has had a persistant intermittant no crank, no start problem. After Wally told me that the alarm did disable the starting circuit, I tried something new yesterday morning when it wouldn't crank. I got out, put my key into the rear hatch lock and turned it counter clockwise to set the alarm and lock the doors. Then I went to the drivers door and unlocked it. I got in and varoooom, fired right up. My mechanic, Tom Martinot at Deutsch Motor Sports in Concord, CA kept saying that he felt the problem was related to the alarm system.
