Jim, you are coming correct?

Will mark close the shop for a day or so and let you free? Oh wait, are you willing to close shop and let Mark come for a couple of days?

$1600 for gas and another 4000 miles on the odometer. I don't think I'll be taking the GTS.

Don't worry the beer will be cold. The event is inside in an air conditioned convention center.

Hi All,

I would absolutely LOVE to attend, but it is a BIT too far to drive. I am hoping to take the family to the US for a holiday about then, so maybe we can take a short detour.

I know I could & should search this myself, but I would appreciate it if some of you locals could give me a heads up on alternate "things to do and see" in the area for my wife and daughter who are definitely NOT "car people". Things that are easy to get to would be best, as my wife is not all that comfortable with or adept at driving on the "wrong" side of the road.

Best, I think, to PM or email me so as to avoid boring the others.

Steve, I'll just bet that there will be other families in the same boat as you. You could probably hook up with another family that may be more accustomed to driving on the right side of the road to show you/your family around. There will probably be local families that will be looking for something to do whilest the car nut in the family is at the OCIC. There are loads of things to do in this area.

This sounds like a blast and I got a green light for the warden…. calendar marked.

There are only 4 states I haven’t been to and three of them are sort for on the way (Louisiana, Arkansas & Mississippi). Never had a reason to drive down that way before… two birds one stone.

Count me in for a few cold ones!

Steve, as the original post listed (will also be in the web site) we will have free transportation to several of the local attractions. The Ranger's baseball stadium (tour or game) the Baseball Museum, Six Flags Amusement Park, Wet and Wild (a water park for the children) as well as shopping locally.

Come-on down, or in your case up! We'll make sure the non-car members of the family will enjoy the trip.

I'd say for when you get down here, that you should plan on wearing shorts and a light shirt.

If you have not had your tan on in the last decade, then I suggest that you wear some panty hose that will darken you.

I keed.........

The temps will be ranging from the high 80's to the century mark this time of year, Yes, I know, HOT... but we figured that summer was the best time to plan the vacations for all and we made sure that most of the 928 related stuff was in air conditioning.

As Angela has found, it ain't so bad driving with all the windows and the sunroof open.

With that request, the only stipulation is you would be chained to the Texas crowd. Now I know your wife would be fine with that. It's a year away and I'm sure we could figure out something. You might want to request in advance, a preference of an OB, S4, GTS as the choice of ride.

Default WEATHER TRACKER . . .

Malcolm,

First of all -- think in miles! 3800 kms = less than 2000 miles! (OK, x2)...
. . . In a shark!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Secondly, (in an effort to stick to the facts) -- here's the weather link for the City of Arlington, TX:
*ARLINGTON, TX WEATHER LINK
Tracking this, as the event draws nearer, perhaps you can get 'better conditioned' to the local clime prior to your trip!
* Info provide 'fee-free!'
