I'd love to do it but I will just be getting there on Friday. I'd like to set something like this up for maybe a after Saturday breakfast event. It would be fun especially if it can be done for a reasonable price.

Anyone bringing more than one 928 to the OCIC? IF so, and if you "trust" me as a driver, would it be possible to use your car (rather than a rental car) for the Sunday morning driving event? I'll use the rental car if needed, but just thought it would be nice to have a longer string of 928's. My 928's are both manual and Rogerbox, so I can work with either.
Thanks for any consideration.

You could use one of mine for the drive.

For what it is worth, anyone considering letting Gary drive one of their 928s would have nothing to worry about. Gary is one of the most respectful, honest and mature minded persons you will ever meet and he would treat your 928 with the utmost care and respect. PLUS, as a bonus since he is also one of the 928 experts and he could give you some excellent feedback on the condition of your 928.

Gary - Good you know how to drive both. Might take awhile to get you trained up in the proper use of a Rogerbox. Those 5 speeds are so simplistic

Trying to wrangle a good deal on a plane ticket from Kauai to OCIC. Just seems like the smart thing for a noob 928 owner to do. Roger, what is the latest I can register? Can I do this the day of if I can make a last minute trip? I know I'll miss the discounts on registration and hotel, but I have friends in low places near there so should be okay.

Dan,

Short answer, YES you can register on the day of the event. Just see the ladies at the registration and check in desk on Fri. or Sat.

I WAS interested in the autocross on Friday but it looks like a business trip is going to keep that from happening. I might arrive mid day Friday but still trying to work out the details. Thinking about driving the 928 up to DFW from Houston, Tuesday morning and flying out of DFW to San Diego, so that I don't have to drive up on Friday from Houston. Hopefully the 928 (with new wheels) will be safe in a DFW airport parking garage for a few days?

I can help out if needed, so let me know. I'll also be bringing my new Canon DSLR and taking lots of photos, and I'll probably bring an HD video camera as well.

Don, there are a LOT of 928 guys in the D/FW area, I bet one of them could keep it for you if you are concerned about parking garages...though I bet it would be fine.

Yeah, lots of generous folks in DFW, but problem is, not that many have extra space IN their garage, and if it's just going to be parked in someone's driveway, might be better off in a access controlled parking garage at the airport. Going to be a hassle but well worth the trouble I'm sure.

(this post was really just a bump)

John Curry, (and David Roberts)

Thank you John for your generous offer. I really appreciate it. We have some family in the area we want to see on Sunday, and hopefully I'll be able to work both in. I'll keep you advised, but there is always a possibility that I may need to do family stuff and will have to miss the Sunday Drive. I hope we can accomodate both, and I'd love to drive one of your cars.

David,
Many who know me might wonder about your judgement after that post. By the way for those who don't know me, when David said "mature" in his post, it was a code word for ANTIQUE. I'm certain to be in the highest 10% chronologically of those in attendance at OCIC!! And - my wife says "you can only be young once, but you can be immature forever" in relation to some of my activities!
Those who missed SITM, hosted by David and Jeannie, missed another wonderful gathering of 928 folks.
It truly is the PEOPLE who make this community so great - all brought together by "The Finest Car Ever Built" as stated in the Porsche Museum.

After a lot of very positive suggestions from the fine folks out there I am going to close this thread as it has run its course.

A new thread has been started to generate paticipation in the Auto - Cross event on the Friday 31st July.
We need at least 20 folks willing to pay $100 to cover the costs.
If we get more than 20 the cost will reduce of course.

We will start a new thread later this week for the OCIC event and hopefully get it stuck at the top.

Thanks to all for the constructive comments and help.
Roger
