Angry Tail of a 78' shark

By tail I mean to say the *** of my yet undriven 928 is back in. Connected the linkage last eve
and it felt good. HOWEVER

It appears that the PO had introduced the rear passenger wheel to a curb. The lower control arm brace (thin metal strip 3" tall and an actual part of the lwer control arm) is BENT.

Why I didnt notice when It was on the ground is beyond me. The good news is that i believe I can restore it to near perfect- and I may even weld on metal just for additional peace of mind.

So, Now i know how the 4th gear rod was stuck where the selector finger couldnt reach it. Im damn lucky it didnt crack the crap out of the driveline OR the tranny. Gotta look at the bright side.

Oh, and then- it starts friggin raining so I cant'
complete it to drive it. damn damn damn.

Wink

If you weld make sure that you disconnect the fuel injection brain. I have heard of welding having some very negative effects on that, and it's not cheap to replace.

I think this part is designed to bow slightly
with alignment and suspension travel.
I've been told this and have seen few that were
completely staight.
Also the design of it would indicate such; why
the flat plate when a tube would be much more
rigid?

Thumbs up

good tips! Im thinking that i won't weld, just straighten to the approximate proportions of the left side.

I got her all put together last night (in the pouring rain) and now I have to correct my firing order from adding new cables, cap and rotor. But thats another post.

thnx. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
