Hey Scott,
I love the finish on your wheels. Are they powder coated or painted? What size tires are you running on the wheels?

Thanks Scott and Chuck for the info. Scott, I keep looking at those pics of your interior, they are really inspiring me!

I have a light blue metallic 79 with the blue-black pasha interior and the hand stitched leather as all the 4.5 cars have. I have ordered a red LED kit from Jager - I thought the blue would be a bit too modern looking and I've always loved the submarine-like effect of the red-amber lighting of old BMWs. I have to say your looks really really good though.

My next project on my car will be to install a Club Sport steering wheel and the red LED kit, along with replacements for all the lit switchgear.

Let me say it again - your car looks fabulous!

Thank you for the compliments. I was very patient with my interior. I had been collecting parts here and there from various Renlist members for about a year, and believe it or not the cost was not too astronomical. In fact, just about everything was supplied by a member or fabricated by a member. Champagne and Budd were key to my dash, glove box, pod and shifter restore.

Chuck bailed me out here -- I had mispelled the web link. Anyway, Chuck's gauge lighting is what made me make the change -- he gave me all the tips. He actually has the red LED upgrade, and I'm sure he'll post some pics so you can see how it looks. One thing I regret not doing is installing the chrome gauge rings -- like Chuck did. I'll probably do this in the near future.

The wheels are painted. The color was made by mixing Mercedes Austral Silver with a black tinter until my liking. This idea came from Greg Gray, who had painted his phone dials a similar color.

The rims up front ar stock 16x7's. The rims at the back are 16x8's from a 951. I have 21mm bolt on spacers at the back as well.

Here is a close-up:

The tires are 225's all around.

Scott, you know you could easily get a 245/45/16 tyre on those rear rims for a bit more grip at the rear. I currently run the stock 16" phone dials with 225 rubber all round, and there is a huge gap between the arch and edge of the wheel... I could add a 30mm bolt-on spacer but I'm holding out for a set of 951 phone dials in 8" width precisely so I can run wider rubber.

Chuck, any chance of a pic of your red LED setup? Plus a pointer to any thread with tips in would be much appreciated! :-)

I will echo everyone else's compliments. Scott, you have a museum piece there. Certainly one of the nicest OB's I have ever seen...and so original looking! I love the LED upgrade. I am using cool white on an 85 I am in the middle of. I hope it looks half as good as what you did. The interior looks fantastic!!!

Keep it up brotha, you have one of the finest looking OB's out there!

245's are definately in the future when I buy some new rubber. I decided to keep the 225's because they have relatively low miles on them. At some point I will have to change due to age not miles though. One nice thing is that the 225's at the rear do have a lower profile appearance, which is nice.

Thanks Keith, and that rebuilt LSD continues to do me right!
