OB getting closer to DFW finally:-)
Just thought I'd post that my OB survived with flying colors today it's 1st 2.5 Hr ride since I've been the owner/Mechanic. I've only driven it around town with short trips to work previously. Car ran great no problems and good milage. Still got some issues to deal with but after todays run I'm feeling better about driving it down to the DFW GTG's. Thank you Rennlist memebers Fingers crossed

Nothing really major just things that bug me. It's got oil leaks that need to be located and fixed. The new exhaust Y pipe I put in works and sounds great except I still have an exhaust leak (Might be a exhaust manifold gasket. Still need to chase it) The Blower is now working but the HVAC controls aren't working properly. The 14 pin connector on the pass side front has been stabbed more times that a heroin addict (Need to splice in some wiring to fix). I'd also like to get the alternator charging at idle (may take a GM mod). My neutral safety is also not getting the ground from the transmission (I've got it jumper'd). About all I can think of right now. I think it's more of just being a fairly new car that I'm getting familiar with. It wasn't taken care of for a long time before I got a hold of it. Oh yea the 928 electrical gremlins give me a migraine.
Get that thing down here, we can solve most of that in a day...or at least tell you what you need to do when you get home. Don't worry about leaks, hell, John put 2 quarts of oil on my driveway and I got accused of being white trash from the wife tonight. ( one dead car in the driveway.....jackstands there to)
I say this as I couldn't get my blower to shut off yesterday and my '88 wouldn't start.
Besides, we are going to try to get the '81 to start sometime tomorrow evening. Maybe we could use yours as a test bed.

The oil leaks are most likely coming from the pan gasket and cam tower gaskets. The best way to be done with the leaks on the older cars is to just pull the engine and reseal. No a bad job at all, and trust me, you will actually save time and headaches vs. trying to fix while the engine is in.

I bet your right. Are the cam tower gaskets at the rear of the engine on the heads or valve covers? Jason
Jason,
It's always breakfast at the GTG followed by BS session and possibly going somewhere for a tech session or maybe just adult beverages and more BS
