aha! so thats near enough to the 43mm i measured as well. ive updated the car again with some 8" rims from a 944 turbo with a 53mm offset so i needed to change the spacer again to something like 32mm.

should be perfect drnick. Technically, the 17" TT's were exactly on the money, 32mm spacer, 8.5/50et, 255/40. We did an ever so slight fender roll just to be safe, since I wasn't sure if under hard cornering the tire sway might kiss the fender.

52et would have been prefered, so your 53et's should be...especially with an 8.0 instead of my 8.5 wheel.

I hope I can find a smokin deal soon on some of these spacers. I keep finding them way too close to $100.00. I'd like to find them down in the $50.00 range

I run 21mm bolt-on's with the 8" phone dials (53mm off-set, like Nick's wheels).

Scott I've always loved the way yours looked. Did you have to roll the fenders? I gotta get a set of 8" rears. To find them polished already would really be awesome.

No fender rolling was required. In fact, I have some room to go wider if I wanted.

No. It's just the angle of the photo. I have about 3/4" to spare from the sidewall.

Does anyone know what lenght beyond the axle/spindle is safe? i.e. at what point/offset will abnormal wear on the bearing or cracking of the axle occur? I can vaguely remember Porsche publishing a warning about wheel sizes but I've never seen anything on maximum offset.

I've also wondered the same thing. No one seems to have anything negetive to say about using the spacers though. Jason

Now that is on-point!

Jason,

My car does sit higher than yours. This is the stock height for MY '79, and I do not have the adjusters up front. Ride height "enhancement" will be my next project.
