i have 928 int, spacers on my 81' and they look GREAT!! im also running 245/50 allround.
As for still using snow chains, with 225 and the spacers thiers still plenty of room (not that i know anyone who uses them or even owns a set )

Are those 16x7" rims? I've got 235/55/16 on my rear now and they seem a bit large for the rims. Jason

I sent my 7" dials out and had them widened. I have 245-45-16 Conti Sport tires they were the widest 245's I could find. I spent a bit too much $ doing this but I wanted to keep the stock look, Just improve on it.

yep 16x7...iv never mesured them but i dont belive them to be 8"
as for the width of tire....check out WWW.TIRERACK.COM
find your tire size then click on specs they will list out tread with (contact patch) and tire width and tire overall height, they also list what size rims are recomended.

your tires being 55 series tall and 235 wide seems a very odd size..ie: to tall and to thin...seem they would be bulgie but with a small contact patch.

my car sits very nice with the tire size i chose but i all so have sport springs so it sits a bit lower.
Just looked your tires up http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...e1=yes&place=4
You have a bad size, they are tall bulgie with a small contact patch
My size is shorter wider and a larger contact patch but still a tad larger than stock by about 1/2''

Send Hacker a line i remember him commenting about possibly selling his custom widened 16x9 phones a bit ago.
Only problem is they dont make 265/50 anymore (they were stock on the 87 288 GTO) so the wides 16'' tire left is the corvette 255/50/16 and thier TALL IIRC 27''

They were a set I had that were almost new left over from my 81 Trans Am when it went in for restoration. They were only temporary. I'm going to buy a new set once I decide which way I'm going with respect to rims. I'd love to use the 245/50/16. Post a close up pic of your rims so I can ensure they are infact 7". If they are I'll be buying the 245 size. Jason

i checked an old picture i have of 16x8s and they have a deeper lip so mine are for sure 7s.
Allso i would suggest that you do 245s all round and not just on the rear, the biggie is that you can rotate front to back and get twice the life from them.
I purchased Rikin venom tires cheap like in the 60s per tire, because i wasnt sure how they would handle but the size is great and if your looking to keep a stock but aggressive look thier perfect. i would just get a beter name tire = )

Well here's how it ended up. I kept the polished 16" PD's and installed 225/50/16 ZR tires. I installed 28mm spacers and it looks great. Huge difference. I'll post pics as soon as I get the car cleaned back up. WE had a tornado or a microburst this past Thurday evening so I've been busy. Thought I'd update you guys. tommy I didn't go with the 245's because I was nervous about them being on a 7" rim after looking at tireracks specs. Jason
