Question thermostat - which way round?

hi
1984 4.6l 16v (RHD) LH Jetronic
finally got the electrical gremlins under control. (i say control...cos i don't think they are ever completely sorted!!)
car now starts....and stops. gauges work and no warnings.

took car for a little run..........big mistake!
within 2 miles it was over heating. got towed home.

pulled stat cover to reveal no stat at all. i now have stat to fit, but how?

does the 'o' ring go in housing first, or stat followed by 'o' ring?

which way around for the stat? gubbins in the housing, or gubbins towards the radiator hose? (gubbins = stat mechanism)

car is very low on power, i think it is stuck on choke (cold start). the auxcillary air valve works ok. the twin sensors on top of thermostat housing reads about 4k ohm cold and 600 ohm hot.

is enrichment done thro another injector, or by ECU lengthening injection pulses?

thanks in advance for your help.

regards

Gubbins in, O ring on top, then cover.
Cold start injector should only run briefly (10secs?), then extra air unit handles idle. CHecked fuel pressure? Lots of possibilities for low on power. How long have you had it? Took me a lot of little things to get mine sweet - plugs, leads, cap, rotor, vac leak - EFI systems (and K-Jet) HATE false air!!! Check for all of these!!
Good luck
