Default where does this vacuum line go?

with my motor mount complete, I began my next project - replacing the large o-ring on the water manifold.

While disconnecting things, I found the following vacuum line disconnected. Problem is, I don't know where it belongs.

It leads from the elbow to underneath the manifold, almost following the same line that attaches to the fuel pressure regulator.

I'm stumped...

thanks Tampa, problem is I don't see where it should go. It's like it is totally out of place.

If you have a month and want to poke around these pictures be my guest. I'm sure a few of these will help you locate your mystery hose.

Chris - just finished my 86.5 intake R&R - that vacuum hose should likely be the one that connects from the throttle body, in the post right beside the capped post, and it should go to the egr valve, which is #9 and #10 in the second diagram above. The first diagram is for MY87+, and is very different from our cars (85 and 86).

thanks guys. Tampa-that's a ton of pics and will sort though shortly.

Don, looked at the pic and I don't think my 86 has that, at least not there. I've taken on too many projects at one time and my brain is way over stimulated.

I may just need to take off the intake and take a look at the whole thing. After getting the water manifold off, I noticed an elbow off the front of the thottle body without a line connecting it to anything!!

Looks like a mess but I don't want to make it worse. Funny thing is, car has been running fine...

Looking at your picture: The Fuel Damper Vacuum line is it connected to anything, looks like it's missing the hard plastic vacuum tube. P.O. may have damaged the hard Vacuum line and added that mystery elbow for a repair and did not connect it.

it's hard to see in the pic, but it is there. in fact, the mystery line kind of follows it under the manifold. incidentally, doesnt that fuel damper line connect to the front of the throttle body?

No, the fuel damper connects back to the 7 way splitter in the back of the V. The egr connects to the front top of the throttle body. It's on one side for 49 states emission, and another side for CA emissions (I'd have to look at mine to remember which side is which). See the diagram below...

Ed, looks like the one. Man, that sucker is way off course. Mine is out past #18 Oil filler neck.

Where did you find that diagram? I poured over my PET and PDF manual and did not run across that one.
