I'm in the process of changing out the transmission on my EuroS and decided to change the CV joint boots. The kits I received do not have clamps for the smaller end of the boots. Only for the large end. This is the case for all four kits (one of the four is actually a Porsche kit). These kits are for the non-welded CV joints (pre-81). Anyone else have this same situation with their early boot kits?
The existing boots have a strap clamps on both sides.
FYI-I have boot kits for my GT and they have both clamps.

You know.....
I did a CV joint a while back. It was clacking, so I had it repacked by a local shop here in town.
The point of course is that there is not much to Porsches's clamps- essentially they are clamps. nothing more, nothing less. For what it is worth, my car has no clamps-the boots just ride without any securing.
Normy!

I wasn't very happy with the clamps included in the Porsche CV boot kits but did the best I could with them. The manual recommends gluing the boot to the flange before clamping. For me it was virtually impossible to get the boot over the flange without getting grease on it. Both local Porshe dealership service depts. said they don't use adhesive, just clamps. One of my flanges was bent so I hammered it back into as round a shape as I could and got the clamp as tight as possible. 1000 miles later, inspection revealed CV grease leaking out. I bought a ratcheting tool and some "Band-it Jr." clamps at NAPA. They appear to be stainless steel and wrap around twice. You can get these really tight. Good seal now - no more leaking grease slung everywhere. The only thing is you have to remove the axles to install.
