Default Aftermarket Springs Installation - Is there a DIY write up ?

Hiya,

Can someone recommend where to buy aftermarkert springs for my S4. I would like to lower the car slightly and thus need recommendation as whats best. I prefer some hard springs as the country roads here can be windy thus needs to handle the car being thrown at sharp corners.

Also is there a write up somewhere that tells you how to change the springs and adjust the ride height?

Thanks

Nadine

You already have adjusters on the front and rear shocks on an S-4 it is easy to drop it down.

If you want a firmer ride many have used the Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks with success.

Tony Harkin's write ups:

Front removal: http://members.rennlist.com/v1uhoh/lowera.htm
(Note - you do not have to remove the alignment eccentrics).

Front installation: http://members.rennlist.com/v1uhoh/fcoinstall.htm

Rear removal: http://members.rennlist.com/v1uhoh/rcoremoval.htm

Rear installation: http://members.rennlist.com/v1uhoh/rcoinstall.htm
NOTE WELL: Tony shows the conical washers assembled INCORRECTLY. I wish he would fix this. The conical washers fit into cavities on either side of the hub carrier, not the shock lower mount as he shows. Just observe carefully the arrangement of all the parts as you disassemble. The conicals are hard to see when assembled, and as you remove the large bolt that goes through the hub and lower shock mount, they may fall out before you notice where they were located.

Tony does not show the process of changing springs as he used preassembled coilovers. Spring change requires a good quality spring compressor and, again, careful observation of the order and orientation in which things are assembled (the WSM has detailed exploded views) as well as a lot of caution to avoid getting killed by faulty use of a spring compressor (SPRONG!!!! WACK!!!!)
