Electrical Gurus - black tape

My injector wire harness is baked fairly well, and as a result, alot of brittle sheathing at the connectors, just above the rubber boot. So I taped them all tightly with black electrical tape, at the bends, with the standard hardware store stuff. Will this hold? Is there a better fix? Heat shrink doesn't seem to be a solution, but maybe I'm wrong on that. Thoughts anyone? I'd rather not even think about the expense of bying a new harness at this point...

Have you thought of rubber weld tape.
It is actually a rubber tape that when wound around itself it adheres to itself or self amalgamates (mixes or unites) forming a solid rubber sheathing.
I have used this the marine enviornment and on cars. I have used this on my 928.

Check out waytekwire.com look under their wire coverings, heat shrink tape, cold shrink tape etc. Many items rated for 300F

+1 on Alan's cold shirnk tape suggestion.
That stuff is really cool. No adhesive, just need to make sure you stretch it as you wind it. Really top-notch stuff.

Many of these tapes bond permanently to themselves - so they won't come off unless you cut them off - look for high temp though so they still don't deform over time from heat.

Ed,
One product that I used is called X-treme Tape made by Vypar products. You can google it for sources, here is one link I found that has it at a good price:

The stuff is great, good to 500 degrees.

I use high-temp silicone self-vulcanizing tapes Summit Racing sells, although it looks like the X-treme Tape is just as good and FAR cheaper. Funny, the roll I got from Summit is huge, but the specs show it's only 2 feet longer than the X-Treme Tape.

due to time constraints, I need to get one of these products by tomorrow, so the web ordering is out of the question. Does Lowes or any of the big boxes sell these tapes?
