The nuts seat and you torque to 103 ft-lbs. That space doesn't matter. The center shaft in that bushing keeps everything from moving.

Thanks Bill. Your pic and your explanation clear up a potentially confusing configuration.
Although I don't appear to have reassembly issues, I can see how these washers/spacers can be confused. Checking the reassembly & comparing to your pic gave me peace of mind.
This should be one of those checks that all 928 owners should do if it's their first shock changeout - or if they had a shop do the work.
