Mine is 82e00403. A GTS crank would make a 4.7 about 5.1 liters?

Matt I think your pistons may be too long ,wrist pin not high enough to use the GTS crank besides if you had the engine that far apart ...... why not go 100 mm pistons ?? and then and then !!

I know I can't afford that other stuff now, so I'm trying to convince myself one piece at a time. The pistons come next.

It was a "oil consumption" short block replacement. The original block sat for a few years, and it was "inherited" sort of I guess. The block has a "problem" with the rear speed sensor boss as well.

I was wondering if you had bought it. Did you get everything?

It sounds like I'll get crank, rods, pistons and block. The block will be separatly shipped, and he says he ships cranks all the time - and has a crank box.

If its what is advertised, then that means I could have a nice rotating assembly, but I may not use the pistons. I'd like to use the block for my "deck plate + nicasil" 4" piston (for rings choices and piston choices) experiment. Or maybe custom rods AND pistons.

I'll still go forward with my 5.0 block and S4 crank build for my supercharger S4. This will hopefully be a solid second engine build with some more planning.

way to go brendan! let us know what you find with the engine block, whether its holes are out of round or what. theres not too much definitive information out there concerning these replacement scenarios.

I'll be happy to report fully. I'm thinking it will be a good candidate for the boring over a bit for custom pistons, as there's bound to be maybe worn bores, some scratches, etc. PLus the stock compression of that bottom end would be too high for boost of any moderate number anyway.
