We've owned ours for 20 months. I've always been a "gearhead", and even before I saw one, hearing that Porsche had finally come out with a V-8, I wanted one.
It just got better, after actually seeing one.
Never drove, or rode in one, before we actually got _SERIOUS_ about buying one. I'd have been very happy with the price of an OB (BARELY missed an '84 with only 40K on it, for @ $10,000, and saw several others for much less), but my wif was reading the posts and suggestions right alongside of me, so that when we found Rosy, she argued about how most everyone said to buy the best you can afford, so we did.

Rosy now has 85,920 miles on the clock. That is 16,329 miles in 20 months, going to events like SITO, SITM, Frenzy, Porsche swap meets, and just drives for pleasure. Spent less than $3K on repairs and upgrades, so far, and I plan to keep it mostly stock. It'll get me in trouble fast enough as it is!

I don't plan to ever get rid of it. Baring any unforseen complications, I've already told my daughter that she'll inherit. But she says she feels like the car is gonna crash, every time she gets in it!!!!!

I bought my 928 on 9/28/93. I didn't really plan on this date but it is kind of cool. I still own this 928 after 9 years of dedicated ownership and a total investment of around $50,000. I probably should have bought the GTS instead of spending this much on my 928. I do love my 928!

Thumbs up

I have had 928's since getting our first one in '92. It was '82 A/T US model. Weinrot with "competition group" and no side rub strips. We kept it for 9 years as my wife's pricipal driver, grocery getter and kid hauler. I replaced it for her with a 88 S4 a couple of years ago. We sold it with 145K miles on the clock and still running fine. It was a great car! So, now we have her S4 driver and a '83S Euro project I am slowly working on.

Happy holidays to you all.

A little over half a year now. I've had my 944 since '94 and thought I would take a step up with the 928.

I have had my '83 US 5-Speed for a little over a year. LOVE IT!
If I have any more big ticket repairs, I think my wife will divorce me... In the last year, radiator, water pump, engine seals, alternator, tires, not to mention Gallons of Mobil 1. Hopefully this year will be better.

A big thorn in my side right now is a minor leak (quart every 2 months) in the oil pan gasket. Apparently to replace the seal, it will cost $700.00 ($15 parts / $685.00 labor). That sure buys a lot of Mobil 1.

I have had mine for 4 months now ('84 928S). The first time I had seen one was when I was looking to buy a 911 (back in 1984). The owner had just purchased a 928 and was selling his 911.
Now it seems we have come full circle.

I bought my first 928 in June of 1999, an '87 A/T. I've since bought two more, though I've sold the '87.

Hi all,

Got my first (84S 5-sp) in May of 98....got smushed..on May 99..so found a 87S4 AT in Aug of 99.
Found my ultimate (well almost ultimate) 928...the 89 GT in Aug of this year...

The 87 is for sale..
The 89GT is a keeper....

Eventually hope to pick up an ole bugger for a track car....

I have had the bug to get a 928 since near when they first came out (I was in highschool)...I distinctly remember one of the ads for the 79 showing the interior shot from the drivers perspective...thinking to myself...what a cool setup..the car just wraps around you...

Dug up the old senior year school paper a while back and while browsing through the "what do you think you will be doing in future" section.....and low and behold....I said I would be driving a Porsche 928....I had totally forgotten about that ;-)

Later,

Talking

Got my 79 back on Dec.31, 1995. The first song on the radio was "Cars" by I think it was Gary Newman. Bought mine from my dad who had the car since 1983, so it was nice to know the maintenance records first hand with the car. My wife and I went to Homecoming in it.(I'm now 35) Lot's of history in that car. Herr, I think I got you beat by # of years owned by the family, but you got me beat because I never could fit in that back seat!!
