Those are knock sensors. '87 was the first year for them.

Glad I could help.
I was really worried there for a minute. When I went in the box and found the
pulley part I couldn't think for the life of me what went there. I even checked David Chamberland's write up that has a picture of it and just could not figure it out until I found the diagram.

Good luck of the rest of it, my car is now in 1000 or more pieces.
