I'm sure most have noticed that Rennlist in general has been slow. John D. is working his a** off to keep things going, but there is only so much he can do without $$$ for equipment and bandwidth..
You want a nice fast site, access to great information, and help 24 hours a day?? Then give a little. A one year membership is less than $.05 a day!

I've noticed that the site has slowed again after briefly improving when John made some changes a few weeks ago.

This place is worth the wait, IMHO.

Thanks John.

A fair measure of Rennlist's value to Forum participants is to take a look at our individual posts count. If that number is getting close to 50, it's a safe bet that you've received real-world value that exceeds the cost of membership.

I am puzzled over folks who have been participating at Rennlist for years, receiving extensive value from that participation, but still are not Members.

My membership is due to expire soon. Will I get a notice in the mail? Definitely will pay for 2 years this time!

Randy,
Think John D. might want to setup a "donation" icon via Paypal for people that might already be members and want to give a bit more?
A $5.00, $10.00 or other?
Might be nice to place somewhere on the top nav bar.
Just a thought.

Hi Folks...!

I am SO SORRY for the delayed reply to this thread!! Thanks to Randy for passing it over a few minutes ago.

Anyway - I am a little buried just now (which is why I'm posting this from the office at 10PM). Tomorrow - PLEASE BEAR WITH RENNLIST, as I hope to have the new circuits up and operational, but please remember, this site and these Forums will be "on" and "off" throughout the day. At the same time - I hope to have the *new* Forums operational, which should offer a lot of new functionality - and the Forums should be much faster....

As to comments within this thread.....

My thanks. And yes - if you are a Member, Jen will send you a reminder both in e-mail and via USPS before your Membership runs out. If you have any questions at all - please feel free to e-mail her at jmunson@rennlist.com - and she will reply to you as soon as she is home (she has a real job, too). If she doesn't reply to you in a day or so - please e-mail me, OK??

As well - my thanks for the support.. It's my goal to make the Rennlist Forums the single best "on the web". That means features, speed, support, information, content, technical innovation, etc. And we'll get there - promise.

In the meantime - just know that Jen and I appreciate your support and patience with our recent growth. We are doing the best we can... So - you folks just keep on doing what you do - and Jen and I will keep on doing the best we can, but watch for some site improvements over the next few days. I think they will be well worth the wait... And from my end - I think I am more frustrated that they aren't complete then the combined frustration posted in these Forums.

But again - I think the wait will be worth it. If it's not - please let us know, OK???

My Best to all...!!!

John

How about putting a "Join Membership Icon" up top right near the post reply...ect. bar? or where ever John D. feels it's proper.

That way it will always be displayed within 'ALL RENNLIST FORUMS" providing much easier access for not only those that maybe computer challenged, but for those that need a friendly reminder to join. Easy, quick and no searching for membership information.

I don't think this would be out of taste. Hell...PCNA MAKES you PAY membership before you can browse the good parts of their site and I dare you to find anything 928 related there.

My two $$ worth.

Hi Tim, John, Randy - and all..!!!

Sorry for the delayed reply - but I actually tried to stay off the computer yesterday - so I'm a little behind in all my "catching up"..!!!

Your suggestion about a link is well taken! As a short answer, yes - I've been working on adding a lot of new links to the top - membership, sponsors, chat, etc. Unfortunately, these features on the "New Forum", which I'll be bringing on-line after the circuit upgrades are finished. (When will that be?? - they were supposed to be last Tuesday, but at my local CO, we are having some difficulties routing all three lines, so right now - we are only running on 60% capacity. I made another attempt this Saturday, starting at 5AM - but by 7PM, it was clear it wasn't going to work either - so I'll be addressing this through the week..)

Anyway - let me get my end set up, but I really appreciate your comments and thoughts..!

As well - even though I'm not connected at maximum speed - I hope you like the speed of the new circuits that are running.. Even I can see the difference back here (FINALLY!!! .. Also, I'm trying to keep this site "on-line" as much as possible through this change, but I apologize if it's off-line for brief periods, as it's only me taking another whack at the upgrade...

Thanks for your comments, support and patience!!!

John,

Just a comment on renewals ...

Why not send a renewal reminder email thirty days in advance, and USPS only for those who don't respond to the email? Why waste an expensive stamp and even more expensive letter on those of us who will happily respond to an email reminder?

I second the PayPal scenario. I'd like to contribute some extra bucks and a few clicks via that medium is quick and easy.

All it takes to justify support for this incredible site is ONE (1) correct answer to a problem. The rest is just gravy. Thanks John, Jen, et al for making it happen.
