Post Mentoring needed, Alt. Question or Two

Diddled the weekend away.
Then started the Alternator swap.
I know there are 3 different Alts, and,
of course, the one I swapped as a core replacement matched the rebuilt one I purchased from O'Rielly's.
But neither of them matched the one I just removed from the car.
So, I did the pulley swap as the one I needed was a rib type the others were 'V' types.
Two other things were different:
1. In addition to the connection studs that I need there are two additional male spades sticking out of the rear of the Alt. body.
one of them stamped 'W' I am assuming is the standard test connector.
The second one has something like a small * star
stamped above it.
The question is ...can I just cover the two spade connectors with an insulated female connector and go about my business using the Ignorance is Bliss
Equation as applied to Murphy's Law.
Or, am I asking for trouble here?
2. Can I just swap the longer retaining screws off of the old Alt. 'shell' so I can attach the Alt. cover to the new one? Is there a torque for those little puppies or is 15 inch pounds O.K..
TIA,
P.S. the air feed hose to the Alt. cover is toast.

John Hi.

I don't know if this will help but I have found on my cars ( Especially the Porsche's) I have taken my alt. and starters to a Rebuild shop. that way I get back the same housing and it always fits. and the price usualy is halve of what the parts house charges. Also they seem to last longer. Just a thought.

I tried that route. I could have one hand crafted and flown in from Deutchland for what the locals want. Thanks for the thought.
My problem isn't mounting It fits perfectly.
I just have two extra male spade connectors one of which is for test purposes and the other I haven't the foggiest isea.
I don't know if I have to jumper it to ground, leave it alone, or, what?
I figure I can use the long bolts off of the old casing to attach the Alt. cover and I'll just snug them instead of torque.
Thanks again
John S.

John, there was a previous post about replacement hose about a month back as I recall. I've still got to get a shroud for mine (It came without).

soontobered vier und achtzig,
Thanks, yep, I read the post.
I just swapped the long, skinny, bolts & nuts off of the spare casing and snugged them down at 17 inch pounds. Worked ok, shroud is in place and I just used some aluminum flex hose to connect to the front left fenderwell intake port. This also worked well.
Still have no idea about the odd male spade connector on the replacement alternator from O'Reilly's.

John,
Can't answer your question but perhaps you can get an answer by calling an alt re-build shop and asking them. The other possible source is to call the mfg and ask.
