Default SC Manual Available for Review

928 International has been kind enough to "host" our manual for your review.

If you would like to see the complete installation manual for this year, or just would like to see how comprehensive and well-written our manuals are - stop in at 928 International and page through it. Please do not copy it or ask to remove it from the premises.

We spend a great deal of time and effort writing the installation manuals, and I think you will see that it shows.

If Southern California is a little too far for you to go, you could:

1) click here and download the first half of the manual from our website
http://www.928motorsports.com/install.html

2) stop in to our shop in Wisconsin and review them for yourself.

We feel that looking through the installation manual before purchasing a supercharger kit should answer some of the common questions; "how hard is it to install, I mean, will I really be able to do it myself?" and "when they say no engine dis-assembly required, is it true?" and "how good are the instructions?"

In our opinion, the quality of the instructions speaks to the quality of the parts and the kit as well.

Here are a few pictures from our Supercharger kit assembly/shipping area:
All parts are normally IN STOCK when you order.

I will be getting a firsthand look at the manual in a couple of weeks. Another Lister just ordered one of your SC kits, and I will have the pleasure of installing it once it arrives. Anticipation!

Accept that the manual you will receiving is Tim's manual, for Tim's kit, Bill.

Ours is different.

Very nice.

How are the Raptor units doing out in the field?

Oops! That's right. Ah, I would say Tim's guide does not need rewriting, although you do a great job on manuals.

Very well. On the Ferrari Chat forum, I just posted a Ferrari 308 with a 7500 RPM redline that turned 370 CHP with our SC kit on the little V8. Stock for that motor is about 240 CHP.

Only the Raptor can take that redline without bearing damage. Its a nice install.

I'm putting one on a 91 928 GT now, I have before dyno's already, so I will post the "after" when I am done.

I have no doubt it's a nice install, but to say only the raptor can handle 7,500 rpm without bearing damage is simply not true.

Engine RPM and maximum impeller speed are completely different.

Per your website the maximum impeller speed of the raptor is 57,000rpm.
The Vortech T-Trim is rated for 55,000 rpm.
The ProCharger Todd is using has a maximum impeller speed of 70,000rpm (they have been tested and shown efficient up to 80,000rpm).

Impeller speed is not the most important factor of supercharger performance anyway, efficiency is. Who cares how fast it can spin if the efficiency is falling off at the higher speed?

Even the unit Todd is using is not the highest rated supercharger (when it comes to impeller speed ) on the market.

Mine spins at over 15k RPM at redline... and has been producing over 500 CHP since I installed it. Bearings still seem fine.

Carl, what's the redline on that Raptor? I assume the 7500 RPM was the Ferrari engine.

Sorry. When I mentioned a 7500 redline I was talking at the engine, not the supercharger.
It has a 6.5" crank pulley driving a 3.00 supercharger pulley, so the input shaft speed of the supercharger is 16,237.5 rpm. The Raptor has a 3.1 step-up ratio internally, so the supercharger impeller at redline is spinning at 50,336 rpm.

Actually, we spun it to 8,000 rpm on the dyno without damage. Note SAE smoothing set to Zero.

That still has nothing to do with supercharger speed.
Any supercharger can "handle" an engine speed of 8,000rpm as long as you size up the correct pulley to stay within the boundaries of whatever supercharger you are using.

Thanks for the clarification Carl.

I am very interested to see how the GT responds to your kit. Should make for a very good comparisson to my car and also Jim R's. Hopefully it's got enough clutch to hold the power. That stock GT clutch is a bit on the weak side.

I am installing one of our upgraded clutch packs, it won't be a problem.
