Impeller speed is not the most important factor of supercharger performance anyway, efficiency is. Who cares how fast it can spin if the efficiency is falling off at the higher speed?
Hacker: you got me. Plain and simple. I mis-spoke. I over-simplified. I should not have said "Only the Raptor can take that redline without bearing damage."

I should have said "Among self-lubricated superchargers, only the Raptor met our design criterium for this application" (the Ferrari). I like the permananetly lubricated blowers for colder charged air, and none of the permanently lubricated blowers can handle the power band I needed better than the Raptor. Not Pro-charger, not Powerdyne.

Plus, the little air blower they supply to blow cool air through the supercharger tranmsiion case is really sweet. Keeps the bearings cool and carries away some of the thermal rise by compression.

My first supercharged exotic to use a Raptor was the Ferrari Mondial that I did in 2005. He has three years on that Raptor without any maintnenance whatsoever at this time. Thats really nice.

All this is a little moot on the 928 - there are a number of blowers that can handle our power band. Your point that, with proper pulley sizing, you can configure most any supercharger to run in most any power band is generally correct.

Should make for a very good comparisson to my car and also Jim R's.
Well, don't be too harsh at first. The first iteration on the 91 GT will be "Stage 1", non-intercooled, pretty low level of bost. When I get that dialed in and comfortable, I'll add the intercooler and ratchet up the boost for "Stage 2".
I think THAT will be a more appropriate comparison to your car.

PS: she's black. It's the black 91 GT I had down at the 928 gathering and performance drivers school we had at the Autobahn in 2006.
