Post throttle cable adjustment

hey, ah, my throttle cable seems to have a lot of slack in it just forward of the spring and the pedal seems to have a "2-stage" (zr-1) touch to it. i assume i need to tighten the cable a bit, should there be some slack in the cable forward of the spring or should it be taut? any other adjustment procedures are welcome.

Check to see if the cable itself isnt ready to snap. Mine did last month. It broke off right where the cable housing ends at the cable stop post under the spider. there was about 3 inches of cable left on the ball end that snaps onto the linkage.

I used that same adjustment to set my pedals up for easy Heal Toeing. I moved the gas pedal over just a bit and adjusted the gas pedal to about 1/2 inch below the brake pedal at full braking. The same instructions as Bob Bondurant goes over. Now, at the autocross you'll hear me down shift with close to 0 weight transfer change.

No you dont. But if you do, its a 1/2 hr repair and a 50 dollar part. No tools are needed except a screw driver to undo hose clamps and a socket (i forget the size) to remove the bottom half of the airbox.
