I'd like to at least try the procedure on the 928.org.uk website to put oil back in the pipes. Motivation is that with the current non-working system the rhs headlight has to be right back in the cowl to pass beam alignment regulations (so the tell-tale at the top is under the cowl).

How do you actually take the top of the **** off to expose the pipes? I don't want to break anything by being clumsy.

everything I have read about the adjustable headlights has been, well, very bad......

the always leak, even when repaired by Porsche dealers during warranty, they went bad a short time later.....

most owners that have them have not bothered with trying to "fix" them, myself included.

Thanks for the write-up - I will read it as soon as possible, and make sure I have all the pieces needed for the conversion.

At this time I don't know what comes with the lights - a friend in Germany got them from another friend and has sent them my way. I should have them within about a week or so.

Not a high priority, but a "nice to have" - particularly since my existing H5s have always looked a bit foggy.

There is a little problem with the euro adjustable stalk. If you do not connect it or release the pressure then it pulls backward too far by its internal spring. I had this problem and you can adjust the headlight back up, but then the glass droplet on top of the headlight gets hidden behind the plastic cap from seeing it from behind. And that´s useful as my lights stopped working about 5 times the last 6 months And you get some uncool gaps between the plastic cap and the glass, letting in wind at high speed and rain. Oh, and to top it off it stops you from pointing the lamp to the side of the road and actually shines a bit to the middle.

To ´fix´ it I used pliers to bend back the two metal lips right next to the screw on the bottom of this picture, making a gap between the lips and the screw.

By the way, that is not an euro adjustable stalk, I just got the picture from another topic. Next put the bottom of the lamp right between those metal lips and the screw. And tadaa it doesn´t tilt anymore and you have a correct position to fit the plastic cap tightly.
Those two metal lips are there to stop the lamp from tilting up in case it slips out of the adjustable stalk, I think.

I have the electrical head light adjustment on my 1990 S4 and it work perfectly. I use it when I have a situation when the low or high beams are too high.

As mentioned when a change from H5 to H4s ensure that you have the correct left or right hand drive lenses, depanding which country you are in.

I really like the top piece on the H4 lenses that allows you to know when you headlights are working.

Yep, I love it too. Looks great from the driver's position! Too bad that makes those headlights so damn expensive I was looking for one and the best I could find was about 100 usd for 2nd hand. While I came across other headlights new for 25 euro! Same diameter.

So, the second thing I fixed yesterday was the blurry light stream. It was caused by dust on the reflector and on the inside of the glass. It was probably on the shelf of the porsche specialist too long Luckily, because I expected rust from a water leak in the reflection layer.

I used a handkerchief, a plastic spoon and distilled water, literally as I got it from an anti-humidity device in the basement
