Another Wheel Fitment Question
I have been reading this forum for over a year since I purchased my 928 and it is the most informative by far. I just joined the list, the Hurricane region PCA, and I will be asking a lot more questions.
But tonight my question is... with the offsets and the limited options in 928 wheel upgrades, it makes me wonder if these wheels will fit my car. I have an 86.5 928S US version.

I really like the look of these wheels and they would certainly match my car.
Thanks.

FYI... it will be easier for us to help you if you post the year of your car.
Ok that said, these wheels should fit, but the fronts are not the ideal offset. Generally we recommend nothing less than a 50mm offset on the fronts, but 5mm is not that big of a deal.
Depending on the model year of your car, you may need to add or remove spacers for the rear.

If an OB, I'm going to say no, on an S4 (or 86.5).....sure but I wouldn't.
I have 8x17 et52 wheels that just kind of stick out past the fender. These are 1/2 wider and 5mm further out.

What about et48 front and et50 rear? 8.5x18 and 9.5x18. I currently have et50 front and et65 rear, the fronts are ok, no rubbing under full lock and the rears have some room to come out towards the fender and they have spacers on them.

An 8" wheel with 50ET (50mm of back spacing) with a 235 tire, will stick out 2.5mm beyond the front fender according to my calcs. This doesn't mean that it will hit the fender as the wheel rotates in an arc as it travels up.
As you reduce the offset, say 48ET, this will move the wheel to the outside by 2mm - so in this case the tire would stick out about 4.5mm. Remember that the offset is measured from the centerline of the wheel, so the higher the ET, the more inboard the wheel goes.
Brett- a 9.5" wheel on the rear is no biggie. a 10" will fit just fine. Once you go to 11's, then you really need to be careful and some rolling/flaring is often times needed.
