S4's should be $3000-$4000. So i would say the 85-86 engine to be $500-$1000 less and probably the same for the Euro 4.7. Although the Euro engine maybe worth more then the 85-86 32 valve as thats THE engine for pre 85 cars and is a huge bump in power.

But i dont know ive only ever looked at S4 and GT engines.

Hard to say... assuming running, but not re-built.

The 84 Euro will be much harder to find. I'd guess ~$4k since the heads seem to go for close to $2k with the cams.

The 85/86 (86.5 only has different brakes IIRC) is a bit more readily available and I would this it could be sourced for around $2k to $3k maybe less.

yeah that Euro engine is probably one of the most rare behind a GTS, and GT engine. i bet there are more 85-86 engines about then the S4's too so andrew is probably right at $2000-$3000. That Euro maybe worth more then an S4 as well. Apparently its a great engine.

Less than the 84 euro. Maybe $500 to $1k less.

Here is my assessment:
84-86 Euro S $2500-4500 assumed running and depending on condition (roughly S4 prices or a little higher)
80-83 Euro S $1500-3500 " " (far more available in parts and complete)
85-86 US $1000-? " " (bastard child, parts don't interchange unless something is being machined/modified)

High demand and low supply distorts ROW S engine prices in US. In here all S engines are about same and much cheaper than S4 engines. Then again S3 engines have so little demand in here that their cylinder heads are worth more as scrap metal than spare part.

I thought the same things as you that all early 32V are the same but that’s not entirely correct. There is a difference in the lower and driver side TB cover. They are different than the ’85 32V. As for the price, they are around $1500 or less. The low price is one of the reasons that I’m keeping the engine out of the parts car.

V2-rocket, what year chassis are you thinking of swapping this into? Street car, track car? Remember that you'll need the brains for what ever engine you go with too, unless you go exotic aftermarket fuel injection or build a hybrid. Sure sounds like the best bank for the buck is the 85-86 motor, see what porken has done to his for great potential of these engines.

That is not necessarily true. You can swap the intake and injection systems between all of the 16V engines, CIS/L-Jet/LH-jet/aftermarket. With a 32V, you would need either stock LH or aftermarket.

I think he should put one in his 944.

Sitting really isn't a big deal for a 928 engine. The fluids and rubber are a bigger problem than the engine itself. I would put in new gas, pump the fuel lines clean through the test port, change the oil, pull the plugs and put some Kroil/WD-40/motor oil in the cylinders, then disconnect the timing belt and spin the oil pump with a drill. After making sure the water pump spins okay, reinstall/tension the timing belt and fire it up.

'85-'86 Should go for $7000

Highest rwhp power out-put out of all of them except for the GTS but those have issues...
