Default Center Arm Rest - plastic hinge...

Does anyone know if the plastic door hinge located on the center consul is the same for all early 928's (78 - 85.5). I removed mine, which is broken, and it has a part number underneath (Zsb928.555.791.02). This could be an aftermarket part.

The part number I've seen for sale at two shops have a differnt number
(928 555 729 03).

Any ideas... ?

Call 928 International - they are close to you and probably have those in stock.

I've replaced these on all of the Porsches that I've owned. They get brittle w/age. I guess one could jerry rig a fix but it wouldn't look good and it's not worth it for a few bucks. When you think of how long they lasted before breaking...that's not bad.

This was one of the first thing I fixed when I bought my car. It would not open and the leather was worn down at the front. The PO never did open it so when I did get it open I found a demo tape from a well know Bay Area Disc Jockey along W/ his business card and a few other bits of "memorabilia" from the early 90"s. It's a easy fix and it's nice to use it even thuogh it's a bit shallow.

That hinge was engineered like it belongs in a '76 Datsun. Surprisingly cheap when compared to other over-engineered parts in our cars.
Why in hell they didn't do a lightweight aluminum hinge as opposed to a plastic hinge that can open and close a limited number of times is beyond me. It bugs me every time that I open/close the box.
I have my new backup just in case.
