I grew up in El Paso, left in the mid '80's, went back a few times in the early '90's and know the whole area from the Arizona New Mexico border all the way to the east coast I-10 to I-20 very very well.

That being said, if I was in Cali and headed to Dallas in a 928 I'd seriously consider finding my route through Denver and about two thirds of Kansas before I turned south toward Dallas! Seriously it would be so much more fun. In fact if you can, try going north to Sacramento over to Reno and stay on I80 until you hit Cheyenne Wy. before you turn south!!

I really thought about the I-70 rt for the simple reason of the rockies. from the time I was born until about 5 years ago I'd spend 2 weeks a year in Colorado and know that state better than I know Texas. If I was in my own car I'd do that and spend a few days in the "hills" again. My family is in Wichita so I know that drive very well.

That is one of my future plans is to take the 928 up there and do the drives I know so well.

Doc I also considered seeing how fast I can make the trip.....map quest says just under 21 hours either way and I love a challenge.. Then I got to thinking, I want to see some stuff, just not camels.

Between Amarillo and Dallas is Quanah, Texas. There are so many instant-on radar units there, I got stopped twice withing 5 minutes for 78 and 73 in a 70 mph zone.

Sean,
Take your time and enjoy the ride.
Do not listen to Ryan about the pretty girls in El Paso, besides Ang would not let you anyway.
Be very safe and enjoy the car.

A special thanks to Mark & his team at 928 International for looking after the car and Sean - they are a "First Class" act (Mark & his Team).
Thanks,
Roger

sometime's fun to see how quick you can do a road trip.

The I40 is a nice drive at least from LA to FAlagstaff

We drive from Santa Barbara CA to Twin Falls ID a couple of times per year.
about 950 Mi in a hair over 12 Hours.

Take the time to pull off at Idaho Springs and take the "Oh My God Road" well worth it, it dumps on to HWY 6, which has turned from a great twisty drive through old ghost towns that have now been converted into gambling towns. Then swing over to take "Squaw Pass" up along Mt Evans. Wonderful 2 lane ones with many scenic pull offs. It goes from I-70 to Evergreen which has the best 20 miles from the front hills into Denver.

family in Palmdale Ca. Driven both routes dozens of times. STAY UP NORTH. granted wintery weather at this time but so much more scenic. getting to el paso is similar to a butt rash..

look into 287 up to amarillo. nice ride, but the slaughter houses STINK....

be safe either way and enjoy yourself.

Roger's 23rd 928? You are kidding right? I thought he had like 12 max?

Actually, How many titles do you think Mark Anderson has had in all his years? You think 100 928's have gone to his graveyard? Does he keep every title?

Mark holds the record, I am sure, by far.
I have a few more than 12 if you consider the cars I own being parted out.
Maybe 15 that are not been parted out and 20 +++ if you do - I lose count as I bought another 2 this week.

And seriously, no other car gets your attention. I am always fascinated by this because i know other people that just go through 928's. No Ferrari does anything for you? No other Porsche? Just 928's? I know you love the cars and have a business supporting them so its important that you know them which you do. But is there really NO other car you would like to drive even some of the time? Trucks for work and family vans dont count.

I'm actually not being sarcastic. I would love to hear why, maybe you can convince me to keep mine forever and keep looking for more. Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Or maybe we should talk about it over a beer sometime. I will question you on this some day Roger.

Sean if you can go through colorado and not have it take an additional 500 miles do it! TEXAS is .......drab. Sorry but I am sure Colorado would be great, especially if its a 5 speed (but i doubt that knowing who's car it is!)

Hey Roger, I have allot of free time on my hands, i haven't been able to be bothered looking for work since I got back from Europe, if you need a driver sometime, let me know, would love to help out. (assuming i'm still sitting on my *** doing nothing at that time)

Warning, do not do this between late October and mid-April. If you do, Take six-wheel drive, take shovels, take a snowmobile. Ask me how I know......
