Default Meet the "EURO DOG"

After fiddling and fooling with this car since I got it in Nov of 07, it is done!, Finished, Completed...a load of work off my A**!!!

Had the engine out for a couple of weeks, for repairs, did what I could to semi clean up the car inside and out, and with the generous donations of a few of awesome 928'ers on this forum, I have taken this "Dog" to just about where I want it. (a few little tweaks still need addressing. Also need to get it legal!) ...and yea, its a 4.7L 300hp dog.

I got the car with the intent of it being a beater daily driver and to someday use the engine in a convertible I have in storage. Unfortunately, it is a rarity that you get a reliable, well running, no issue car for $2K. So you stick another $1500 into it and you end up with what we have here. The "Euro Dog". Great for city driving, nasty rains and mindless morons that love to park next to you callously opening their minivan doors into the side of your car....F*** 'EM....IT'S PAYBACK TIME BABY!!!

Oh yea, and the bitch has 8" 'ers all the way around just in case it needs to get some exercise at the "Dog Track"

Enjoy the pics, cause it is probably the cleanest you will ever see it.

It may not be pretty, but it's effective!

I like your other one BETTER!

But i was thinking if i move back to LA i wouldnt want to drive my GT all the time and just use it as more of a toy. So i was thinking i would buy another little beater 80's honda hatch back or something and use that to putt around in. Well actually this is a great idea. Just get an older 928, hell i know them well enough now! That makes a nice DD car thats for sure.

I like the 8" wheels all round.

I want a little Euro dog now too!

I think you have the right idea on it, get it running and clean, but dont dump money into it fixing crap thats just cosmetic. It's a hell of a $3500 daily driver car that you dont have to worry about people messing with.

great idea, I will look for a Euro now before DanglerB buys them all up. Apparently he has like 37 of them now.

Very nice! But how can you mouont 8" wheels on the front without scrubbing?

A tire dealer did this by accident on my first S4, and I can tell you the noise was terrible when I hit the first bump... no more underbody coating in that area afterwards.

The paints crap on this car. has a few dings and the interior could be better, but mechanically, after all I have done if you caught any of the other threads, this thing will run nicely for a long time to come. I actually have 4 928's now. The 85 car is the next to get life breathed back into it.

As for the wheels, nope, they're staying as that was the plan to begin with. I even calced out the fitment before I ever got the wheels or tires and knew it would work. The key to making the 8" work is the trick of correct tire sizing. 225/50's all around. This combo ends up with an angled sidewall. The tires look a tad skinny at the tread, but consider it a race fitment. I did the same thing on the GTS. Allows for less side wall flex, superb handling and no fender scrub...and I drove the hell out of it today and hit speed "humps" at 40 mph....hard sharp turns at the lock and still no scrub. Of course you have to have the correct ride height as well. The wheels were donated by two different Rennlisters. I cleaned up the boogered up rims and painted them as close to the color of the car as I could find off the shelf. BTW, the tire is the number one rated tire at Tire Rack at $79 each! I waited a month for them to finally get stock again.

Pics....

Excellent find Kieth, I hope you get years out of it. When you do get bored with the look, and want to refresh/update,.....do the wheels first. All the crap I have bought for my car and the endless hours marking, drilling, sanding... nothing changed the look as much as the 15 minutes it took to mount my turbo twist rims.

Great project! I saw those reviews and ratings on the UHP on Tire Rack, too- a set for my 86.5 DD gets here Wednesday. Nice to see a shot of them on the right wheels!

Nice job Keith. That must be a fun car. My 80 is over with Steve Cattaneo getting new syncros, and I am eagerly awaiting the return of my ''Dog''.

There is nothing like a cheap car that goes like stink !

Keith...that Euro is awesome...after all that work ...it's time to kick back...and enjoy the ride...Nothing like having a daily driver 928 that is well sorted..and you can just get in and go..no fear of dents, dings, getting it dirty. Just drive and enjoy the BWAAAAAAHH!!!!

Congrats on a stellar resurrection

Thanks fella's. It was a dirty messy stray dog when I got it. Hard to believe it came along as well as it did. It could probably have been considered a "junkyard" dog as it was looking like that is where it was headed.

Anyway, it looks better in the pics than in reality. As long as it runs trouble free, gets me/us from one place to the next, I'm a happy.
