Default Any Pics of Installed X-Pipe

i have searched the forum for post and pics of an x-pipe system installed on an '89ish, no luck. i'm looking for pics of an installed system, so i can see what i am getting into.
i have the RMB but it AIN'T enough for me. i want that Corsa uncorked sound like i've run on the vettes in the past. no worry about emmisions down here, so i'd like to run an x-pipe and probably straight pipe after that. No resonators and no cats.

thanks guys and i appreciate your help in advance.

Try it with a x-pipe and rmb first. Your 89 has smaller resonators then mine and when I step on the go-pedal it certainly can be heard, in a good way.

If after that you are still not satisfied then look into straight pipes.

You'd be nuts to lose the resonators. You'll also get cited.

I have a cat-less X-pipe from a car I just bought that I can't use here in GA without modification. I'm thinking I'd rather sell it as it is than try and cut/weld cats at the back.

Ed:
can't be any louder than my 454'd t-bucket/rat rod with 2'-4" straight pipes right off the heads.
or any louder than my sold factory 5 racing cobra with side pipes.
i'm running 4" to 5" dia. straight pipe on my powerstroke as well. not really worried about being cited.

Dan,
let me know what you decide. i'm looking for an x-pipe.

thanks for the comments and advice.

Here's mine:

It's very loud with out the high flow cats (>120db@10 feet)!!! Here's a shot with the slip on cats:

Maybe not, but IMO you'd absolutely f up the ride in the 928 with that much noise. Also, who's to say what the lack of back pressure may do. Trust me, I ran an X-pipe with hi flow cats and an RMB. It was plenty loud enuf. Losing the cats and the resonators will be too much.

Hello all! (& pardon my english... )

Here are couple pics of my system. It´s completely made by myself (even flanges are cnc-machined by me )....and my design with 20-degree X-section.

That sounds awesome! That whole thing really begins to be alive at highway speeds with kickdown. Cruising at low speeds it have pleasant V8-rumble, and idle is strong (and flamboyant) enough to shut up vtec´s and other gti-vacuum cleaners.....

So I may suggest to throw the factory resonators away and get good chamber mufflers intstead. I have Flowtechs (I will change them to Edelbrocks in future). But I believe Dynomax, Magnaflow and Borla would be very good choices too? BTW if you have not noticed, Edelbrock does have a muffler where in & out are offset same side of the muffler. Those would be perfect for fitting?!

Here's my modified Ott-X with balance pipe. The balance pipe quiets it down, but didn't affect the hp or tq (and may have raised it, but I haven't done a direct back to back, yet).

I have the factory big resonators, and a factory rear muffler, modified for flow. Even with no cats, and >300 rw tq and hp, it's almost factory quiet.

I copied the way the 32V exhaust manifolds appear to be made, by making the holes smaller than the ID of the pipe to be welded on.

Makes a great spot for the factory O2 sensor, leaving the other for a wideband.
