googled "key-head remote" and found this:
http://www.dw-tuning.co.uk/automotiv...5-.p19795.html
Looks like the right idea if we can figure out which plug-in receiver/relay module to use.

Ryan,
I think any aftermarket system with an unused button will be adaptable to trunk release. The Commando definitely. Basically, you make a circuit which simulates pulling up on the trunk release button next to your seat. I have installed 4 of these now and the first one will take an average diy'er 6 hours. If you know where to pass and connect the wires you can do it in 3-4 hours. I'll help you if I can.

Actually i just thought of this for the hatch release. I thought it would be as simple as getting into one of the wires to pop the hatch. But the electronic hatch release only works when the door is open and the car isnt moving. Is there a way to bypass that so that you can walk up to a locked factory alarm 928 and hit the hatch release button and it unlocks the doors and pops the hatch?
Bob,
Not sure exactly what you saw on that site that you liked. It looked like those remotes were the actual key fob which would be nice. But i tried to look up vehicle specific stuff and the site is dead so to speak, nothing works with the drop down options.
The KE system seems to cost $30-$50 depending on what you get, thats pretty damn cheap for the convenience it provides. Especially now that the only way the hatch opens is with a second key, which i dont plan to carry, or the electronic release which requires me to unlock the doors and open them first. Which i can live with but this proves that the remote opening would be so much better.

You need a switched negative trigger and a switched negative door pin signal. There are a number of ways to do this. I use 2 relays and some use diodes. I think I have documented this and I'm sure Alan has done the same.

The method I use for the hatch release involves no new relays.
I swap the switched ground at the hatch motor for a permanent ground. I wire this unused switched ground back to the hatch switches using the existing yellow wires. I disconnect the red wires on both hatch switches and link these terminals across the car and use this as a switched^2 ground for the hatch release relay coil (other side is a permanent fused battery+ connection). The KE hatch release output also connects to the same place as the hatch release switches so either the KE (without interlock) or either hatch switch (with interlock) activates the rear hatch motor initiation via the relay.
I consider this to be the least hassle to integrate - its fairly easy to wire and needs no extra relays beyond those absolutely required for functionality. If you also have an alarm the KE hatch release also needs to go to the hatch alarm suspend or door disarm depending on your configuration.
There is another side effect - when the key is turned to release the hatch lock - the electrical connection for the alarm disable also activates the hatch release - so you get motor assisted opening with the key too!
