Post Temp Sensor II check

I'm assuming that the Temp Sensor II is the sensor on top of and at the back of my intake. What are the normal readings from each leg of the sensor to ground? Should these readings be taken with the connectors on or off? Should there be a reading across the two connectors? Would a bad sensor shut down my fuel pump AND spark?

Temp. II sensor – LH provides a rich mixture on cold start up. The temp.II Sensor is two sensors in one, pin #1 LH control- fuel, pin #2 EZFcontrol- timing. To test ground each pin; test each individually pin of the sensor with the connector disconnected to ground

LH = cold 4.4 to 608ohms

Thanks Steve, I get no resistance reading on either of the two pins. I guess I'd better replace the sensor. The manual places the temp II sensor in the thermostat housing. What's the deal?

The temp II sensor is the front of the engine in the water housing, the connector should be blue in color.

Looks like the intake comes off. It's gotta be the crank sensor.

Also check the engine speed reference mark sensor. If UN plugged the car will not start. It is in the back of the motor in the bell housing; heavy black cable

That's the one with the bolt through it, sort of like the knock sensor only smaller. It doesn't seem to have a plug on the bell housing end and I can't find the other end. I assume that it plugs in under the intake.

The connector on the bell housing is the pick up sensor no plug. You are looking for the other end of that wire. There should be another one closer back to the fire wall with an open plug on one end; we are not interest in that one since it is used for a timing reference only, no input to the engine. <img border="0" alt="[bigbye]" title="" src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" />

I have found, unplugged, a three prong connector that sits down over the front of the bell housing between and under the fuel regulators. The wire from the pick up sensor loops around and runs parallel to the connector but passes it. It's a bitch to get at and replug in. Could this be the connection I'm looking for?

Ernest,

Do you have a shop manual? If so, read the fuel injection section. Parts are shown and causes for no-start condition are listed. If you don't have a manual, email me (click on the envelope at the top of my post) and I'll email some pages to you, but my weekend is full so it may be tomorrow.

Do you have a digital camera and can take pix of these connections you're asking about? If so, please post pix. If unsure about how to post pix, email them to me and I'll post them for you.

Don't pull the intake quite yet.

Greg
