I thought I'd provide some feedback on this now that I have about 300 miles or so on my "quick shifter" from 928 Specialists (all of the big 3 are offering them now and I believe they are all the same).

When I installed it on my '88, the bushings went in VERY tight and moving the shift lever at a standstill seemed to be pretty 'notchy'. I talked to DR about it and he said to give it some time...of course, he was right. It is very smooth now and I don't really notice any difference in effort over the 'shortened' by 1" stock unit that was in there. Unfortunately, I did the shifter before getting the car out again after winter storage so my comparison is to my memory of what it was. I like the change and would recommend it ....just be prepared for a very tight fit on re-assembly and give it some time to settle in...a very nice change. Assuming I can find the thread again, I'll let you know how it turns out on my son's '82 that has the stock shifter and some synchro issues.
