I am amazed at how much time I have in just cleaning all the bits and pieces for the Bastard's rebuild.
I mean a huge portion of my time will be spent just on cleaning 20+ years of crap off the parts.
Everything is getting bagged and marked to keep it clean and in some form of order.
My initial time estimates were low. I'll have 200+ hours into this project before all is said and done.
I need a helper and more time...

Bags! We don't need no stinking Bags!
I feel for you John. My parts are all finally clean and spread out on a table. My $89 investment in a BJ's 20 gallon parts washer w/ pump has paid off big. I'm hopefully putting the bottom end together this weekend and starting on the reassembly of the heads. I'm going to look under my couch and the neighbors couch to scrape up enough ca$h to buy the remaining t-belt, water pump, belt guides etc... Good luck with yours, hope were on the road soon.

I need my block and pistons! The Bastard has waited long enough! It is time to get on with this show. This weekend I am going to try to get all of the bits and pieces cleaned up. The dreaded cam housing cleanup, what a PITA. The boxes completely fill the entire garage floor. I hope I can recall where all of this stuff goes...well of course I can.
I picked up a new baby pet squirrel on my bike ride home the other day. He is amusement when going from the basement to the garage and vice-versa, while cleaning the parts.

I am nearly there, heads done, just have to clean all the fasteners, oil pump, springs, housings, bla bla bla.
I bought one of those little paint can cleaners. That stuff is nasty, I need to get some gloves fast.
After the cam housings are done, I think the rest should be cake...but it depends on how the block looks upon returning.
