Default Who's making 928 cargo covers these days

I remember a guy was selling 928 cargo covers on Ebay a few months back and go figure, when i am ready to buy them he isnt listing them there anymore?

Anyone have a line on reproduction cargo covers?

Or better yet maybe we can come up with a DIY cargo cover parts list and everyone can have them if they want to make them.

I dont think any sponsor is making these so this shouldnt be an issue.

How about ideas on construction, and materials. I am most interested in ideas for the rearmost elastic and retracting cords that attach to the hatch itself. Other supplies would be the cover material itself which i think anyone could find local to them. Something like a black canvas or even leather or vinyl possibly. What about the support pole that goes just behind the rear seats? I was thinking some aluminum piping with some nice finished ends or black plastic caps of some sort, maybe like what you put on the ends on bicycle handle bars only smaller.

I would like a cover, i would love to spend less then $200 or $300 on one.

Anyone else had similiar ideas?

I think you can still get the sunbrella through 928 International or Specialists (check with them!).

And of course, I'm sure that Rob and Paul would make you one any way you want it.

I got a good value one out of Australia, from lineker leather: Very responsive vendor too.

Actually, I am coming out with one.
The prototype is done. I just didn't have time to post about it.

It's leather of course, and quite a bit more practical than the original design.

I will open a topic about it sometime soon.

Ryan--

I just bought one from 928 International and installed it a few days ago. I love it.

I'll post a picture if you like. The picture on 928 Int'l 's website is very small.

I wish somebody would make one that more closely replicates the OE cover. I have not seen the sunbrella product but from the pictures I have seen it's not a good match. For one, there is no option of a CD changer cutout for cars that have a factory mounted CD changer in the hatch.

I have had a sneak preview of Paul's cover and it is well worth waiting for.

ok will do, cant wait Paul!

I love innovation, would love to see what youve designed into this new one.

I dont like the floppy look of the original, its really just fabric with no support in the middle. A more rigid cover itself would be nice, wether it was more rigid because it was supported by something or better yet because it was tight so that it looks firm, well that would be cool in my book.

Nothin' wrong with Old School! (can't believe I'm saying that about CDs! I had a car with an 8-track player in the dash once)

I have a cargo cover unit but the Arizona sun killed the fabric (came out of S4). I think the hardware is fine though. What's the possibility of the hardware being rebuilt with new "software"?

If someone is interested, make me an offer. Shipping from 83843. It's long enough it may have to go UPS?$$$.

If you have the hardware & an old broken down one then it is only a couple of hours work to make an new one & incporporate any design changes you want in it. I made mine in this way and I am most certainly not an accomplished sower. Those with competent 'significant others' will probably be able to have one made even faster.

Total cost was less that $30-.
