Metal cam hole plugs 32v; whats the part #
I have read here that I need to replace the plastic cam hole plugs with the newer metal ones. These are the plugs that go behind the cam plug supports, in the journals where the cams on previous models extended in to.
I have what I thought was the part number #928.105.262.00, but this is the pin.
Can someone advise me the part number and where to buy info. I see 928 Inter. has the plug Pt. # 928.105.215.00 but i think this is the plastic one Jim if you are reading please help me out here. . .
Thanks

the new part is just a pin that wont fall out (of the hole its plugging)if the rubber holding it desitegrates.
There are 5 required. the new part is held in place with the cam cap, so it is longer

caps / covers?
If your taking the caps off then yeah buy the 6 seals, and the 5 plugs.
Oh wait, your doing an entire engine rebuild, all those parts come in the Porsche rebuild kit. They are ultra expensive if you order them individually.
I got the genuine Porsche rebuild kit and it included EVERYTHING! Well except for 32 valve seals curiously which are included in the top end kit. But you want the full engine kit, the machine shop will most likely have the valve seals anyway.
Some of the most expensive parts i found when pricing individual components are the 8 exhaust gasket rings, they are like $11 each and included in the kit. DONT BUY INDIVIDUAL PARTS

you dont order any caps the cap i am talking about is the cam hold down cap inside the cam/valve cover you only need to order the 5 oil block pins they are about 1 inch long and have a step on one side cut to fit inside the oil feed hole thats inside the camshaft journal

I have the engine gasket sets and they include the head gaskets for $399.95
This is an OEM set - the Porsche set is more like $550

You just use the pins to block the oil holes. The end plugs which you can see with the cam covers in place do come in the engine gasket sets. And yes we stock them ?

Jim,
Is the set you are referring to Pt. # 92810490302 (cylinder head seals)
I see the 5 metal pins included in the set, but which part number is the end plug?

David, Call Dave Smith at Smith Motorworks on this one, The plugs on the back side of the cam tower behind the camshafts, you're speaking of. I just had mine replaced with the metal ones. There was a Factory technical service bulletin on this.
