Question Power Mirror, Seat memory, remote rear hatch release Problems

I am having problems with my power mirror adjustment and seat memory. neither one is working at all. I checked the fuse for the power mirror, but didn't see anything for the seat memory. Is it possible or likely that the wiring harness has come loose, since both dead controls are in the same area? Also the rear hatch release isn't openning the hatch. I took the assembly apart. The motor works and I hear clicking when actuated, but it just doesn't release. I am at the end of the motor adjustment (all the way down). Is something worn? Possibly the latch itself?

Thanks

The seat memory & mirror control/memory are tightly related, although have seperate (linked)controllers.

Check the relays/fuses first of course....

The seat control/memory etc is under the seat. You may have some luck pushing any loose connectors back on (there are many) - but there is so little clearance I'd plan to remove the seat first (at least so you can tip it forward).

The mirror memory controller is in the (US-LH)drivers footwell on the inside fender wall between the dead pedal & hinge - above the hood release... check the 3 connectors here are seated well too.

The factory manuals have some good test procedures for the modules & full wiring diags for every year...

Good luck...

For tips on the hatch release, do a topic search of these words "remote hatch release" and read.

I just did the hatch release yesterday. I used info I found on the net. Here is the basic step
providing nothing is cracked, fractured or broken.

The receiver part of the latch is lined with nylon. The "tongue" or hatch part goes into the
receiver when the hatch is closed. The problem with my car was that the tongue was too far
back (aft, towards bumper)from the release.

Cut a small plastic square from a plastic bottle (I used a cut from a piece of vinyl house siding,
thickness was perfect). This plastic piece will line the receiver on the aft side closest to the rear of the car. It's job is to slightly move the tongue closer to the release mechanism. Raise the motor all of the way UP (this shortens the throw of the release mechanism, but this is
where you want to start. Remember, motor higher, less "throw" of the mechanism, lower motor,
more "throw"). With the motor all of the way up, close the hatch have the keys ready to reopen
it).

1) Try the remote release. If it does not release the hatch, open the hatch w/key and lower the
motor slightly, shut hatch, try remote again.

2)if no release, repeat step 1.

Do not start with the motor all of the way down, as too much throw on the release can damage
the parts. You want enough to open the hatch, but not enough to beat the crap out the components.

It worked like a charm for me, the motor ended up about in the center of it's adjustment.

I wonder though, if the real source of the problem may be a completely mis-aligned hatch deck. I'm not sure if the deck is adjustable like the hood is, (did that one yesterday as well) but if the deck has slipped down a pinch, it would explain why the tongue is hitting the back of the
receiver instead of the center. Someday I'll look at the hatch bolts.

Disclaimer- this procedure worked for me-YMMV

I cut a few thin pieces of plastic ( from square plant pot) and wedged in between the nylon/rubber of the receiver and the metal of the receiver so it is not seen. Adjusted starting at the top as desribed above and now it works, when never worked before. Thanks again Rennlist!
