Post Silver/Enamel Porsche Hood Crest

Yep I believe I am the first kid on my block to get one of these!

I found a source for these and boy do they look sweeeeeet! I wanted to post a picture today but I left my digital camera interface at the office. So I will post it tomorrow.

Let me know if you are looking for one. I don't think there are a bunch of these hanging around as I had to wait a long while to get my hands on one and I know there are at least two left where I got this one. They are not cheap though at $139 a piece. I was thinking about buying up all that I can get my hands on and posting them on e-bay.

I promise to have it up no later than tomorrow afternoon. But suffice it to say- it is a quality manufactured product it looks just like your Gold Crest only these were manufactured as silver.

I have a lead on the matching steering wheel crest in silver as well but, those are really, really hard to get!

I am uncertain why or when Porsche made these but they are very cool. I was told it was for the millenium edition 996 that is decked out in chrome and silver lettering and trim parts but these badges never made it onto the cars. I don't know if that is "truth or bull-lie" but what is true is this crest is SWEEEET!

Are they better looking than these?

I was seriously tempted when I first saw them, but was scared away by the price (at least temporarily).

Regular: $87 <img src="http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/images/exterior_trim/silver_crest.JPG" alt=" - " /> Mini-me: $45 <img src="http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/images/exterior_trim/356_hood_crest_silver.jpg" alt=" - " />
(not actual sizes...)

I put gold minis (356) on the fenders...<a href="http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=14;t=004311#000000" target="_blank">Link: Side Badges</a>
Kids always ask me if the car is a Ferrari.

That looks like the one I have and if so I can go back, show him this Pelican ad, and get some coinage back!!! Fortunately, the guy is pretty cool and I am certain he will refund my money if I showed this to him.

Thanks for the look out!

Hi Guys,

I thought I would pop in here with some info I found on the small (1 inch) crests.

Pelican sells them for $39. I wanted 2 of these crests to mount on each door panel's inner piece, and then have "Porsche" embroidered in the same color as the leather into the panel after the crest. I think it will look sharp!

Anyway, $80 bills for 2 of these 1-inch crests was a little steep, so I looked around.

While at my P dealer, I saw that they had those factory crest key chains (they had a Porsche Part #). The leather ones with the mounted crest, not the one with the crest that flips up on a strap at the top. The crests on these were JUST AS NICE (same quality) as hood crests.... and $15!

I got two, cut the leather apart, and I am very happy with these crests. They have a nice metal clasp and plate in back for mounting, or you could just cut that off and glue.

I'm not positive, but I'll bet they are the same crest.

$30 dollars sure beats $80 + shipping.

Mike

PS: If anyone is interested, I will scan my new factory 993 hood crest beside one of my 1-inch ($15) crests, so you can compare.

OK my error folks, I chatted (actually I initially flamed on) with my friend who sold me my Silver Porsche Crest. He asked me to pull the credit card receipt and observe it a bit closer. I felt like a total azz...he charged me $80.00 and was offering me two for $139.00 but I only purchased one...DUUUUH <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" /> !

Any way I have attached a photo <img src="http://images.ofoto.com/photos407/3/72/12/39/31/0/31391272305_0_ALB.jpg" alt=" - " />
