I think i have a bad RCA line because i cant get any sound out of the thing. So i hooked up some really crappy television RCA cables I had laying around and plugged them in to see if that worked and it produces some noise, not what i could call impressive at all. I am going to take my RCA cables back and get new ones and see if that solves the problem, or if the problem is the basslink itself.

Replaced the RCA cables and now i have bass.
I can adjust the bass through my head unit so i wont be using the included bass remote. Its pretty clunky in comparison to the way bass is adjusted with the head unit and its one less long wire to run and one less box to mount up.
I was listening to a track and as its playing i unplug the RCA's and its amazing how much sound isnt being reproduced when its not plugged in. Definately rounds out the system. It isnt earth shaking but i think it will do nicely, and for the price, well you cant beat it!
One question I have is that my iphone causes signal issues with the sub. It makes some "chatter" and when i put the phone in airplane mode it goes away. I am suprised this is an issue honestly. The RCA cables that I bought were the top line Rockford Fosgate RCA's that retail for $30 for 16 ft. This is a bit of a downer honestly. Do you think the problem is with the sub itself or is it the cable thats picking up the interference? I have this same issue with my home theatre subwoofer and i cant leave the phone to close to it or i get this occasional chatter, especially right before i receive a call. Should i look for another brand or type of cable or is this just an issue i have to live with?

The "fix" is rather obvious.....
Toss that darn phone out....
Just wait until I'm within catching distance

If the problem in your home stereo bothers you that much, then I would consider replacing the cables with a different brand.

Well my Basslink gave up the ghost after about a month. I had purchased it used from eBay and was in great condition when I received it. It worked really well after installation, but has just died.
The red power light is on as is the green servo light (on all the time). I've checked all power connections, fuses, turn-on lead, and RCA cables with no fault found.
Some Google searches have pulled up quite a few similar stories of premature amp failure. As mine was used from eBay I have no recourse.
Oh Well!

Yeah I have heard that the AMP's go
I don't like that the amp is so tall, I LOVE THE SOUND though but they don't seem to be real durable.
Considering Alpine now has their new 5 channel PDX amp with 4 x 75 and 1 x 300 watts I am thinking I will just go that route and build just a simple square box to enclose the sub and bolt the PDX amp (which is TINY) in with it. Then rewire the speakers AGAIN now going from the amp to the door and so on.

I bit the bug and bought the above mentioned Alpine PDX-5 amp to power the 10 speakers and will now build a box for a 10" sub. Apparently build sheets on these amps show them making 102 x 4 PLUS 361 x 1 for the sub. (Mine rates at 99 x 4 and 371 x 1 ) Pretty impressive, i had to get one as i need more then the 18 amps off the HU for the MB-Quart speakers in the car now.
So the Basslink is on its way to a new home, but i would definately reccomend it to anyone without a sub. The car was lacking all the low frequencies and the Basslink is a nice quick solution.
