Nearly three years of driving my automatic without 4th gear. ![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
I finally gave in and took the car into a mercedes repair shop they did the rebuild, it now shifts very smooth, fourth gear works like a charm.
New Mercedes dealer trans kit, b2 band, clutch pak, Bowden cable piece, etc for 1,500 dollars- no leaks,,,! The main problem was caused by the previous owner's use of inferior parts...
Now it's a daily driver, see video

Thanks all for the great information. I've been having a sloppy shift problem in my '85 928 for a while now. Our mechanic has had it apart more than a couple of times. It still leaks and sometimes sticks in 2nd or just mushes into 4th. I am first going to try the cleaner. Hopefully this will solve any sticky valve body problems.
I am accustomed to working on VWs and Volvos, but this car has frightened me. I am slowly coming around to the fact that it IS just a car and I CAN work on it.
I look forward to everyone's useful answers to my stupid questions.

Hello all. I am custom building a car utilizing the Porsche 928 4 speed auto trans. The reservoir is broken. Where can I find this item? Also what kind of HP will these trans be able to withstand? I am planning on 500 Rear wheel horse power. Not using torque tube. Had a custom adapter made to accommodate SBC motor. Also finding trans mounts . Please notify when you can.

John,
Can get reservoir and mounts from Roger at 928srus.com in Texas or Mark/Tom at 928Intl.com in CA.
Can't help with HP rating but I'm sure others will be able to answer that question.
