Get a Porsche Radio code
I posted this on another 928 thread, but I think it's worth posting again as a topic. I think I found the lead to this on a Boxster or 996 thread, but MIGHT have found it here. Anyway, it's a great source of radio code FREE on the Renntech site. Provided by a great resource - Loren.
To learn how to obtain a radio code, and what to do if it doesn't work, go to the web site below and read the entire thread (400+ postings). IF you don't have the correct code, Loren may be helpful. Try the two codes he'll probably give you. IF neither work, then go plus and minus 1, then 2, then 3, etc. from the one he gives you. I found neither worked for a CR-210, but when I went plus 1 from his first code - BINGO.

If that link doesn't work, go to www. Renntech.org, scroll down to 986 boxster and click on that. Then scroll down to the third line which is "Lost Radio Code" and open that. Great source for radio help - vs paying some sources in England about $18, or Becker about $30. Don't know what the P. dealer might charge!!!

PS: That thread also tells how to get the model number and serial number from many Porsche radio types without removing it from the dash.

Dan,
Check eBay, search for radio code. There are several outfits in England that charge ~$15 for a code. You can probably send a query asking if they provide CR 1 codes before you commit to buy.

I have a code-less CR 1. It's made by Alpine...I can't get the code. Becker codes apparently are available. Every other car I buy has the wrong code for the radio due to swap outs for newer aftermarket units and yhey take them out and replace with older (but wrong) Porsche radios before selling to me. I'll try the tips here and see if I can finally get some working codes.
One car I bought had three different code cards with it...none worked.

Ed,
I posted this a long time ago, and have used the Renntech system several times in the past 5 years. For most OE Porsche radios from the early '90's until mid 2000's, a 'code' is required to activate the radio - if battery power is ever removed for more than a few minutes. Without entering that code after power has been restored, the radio will usually only show the word PORSCHE and nothing else. Useless in other words. Codes for Becker radios are usually available. Those made by Alpine and some others seem to be impossible to find.
In the mid 2000's, Porsche and most other German manufacturers went to a fiber optic system called MOST. This communicates with the cars computer, and these radios ONLY work in MOST systems. I understand that a Porsche dealer service is required to activate a radio when it is moved from one MOST car to another.

Radio code required
Good morning.
Please would you be so kind as to help me with the radio code for my sons Boxster
He bought a wreck and has brilliantly done it up and about to hit the road with it.. So battery was off for a while.
We have generated the serial number as per the instructions here and it's as follows..

All the best
