S4 exhaust manifold on a Euro S2
List,
I've been doing some thinking recently (a dangerous thing in itself!) - I have a set of S4 exhaust manifolds left over, which I am thinking of fitting on my Euro S2 to replace the **** cast iron ones. Would I need to do any modifications or is it a straight swap? I would imagine that I would need to cut the extra mounting holes, but that is about it?
Many thanks in advance,
Alex

Only the 85-86 tubular stainless two bolt manifold will fit the 16 valve heads....and as mentioned the big down pipe triangular flange ends up in a different place do the the offset ports of the 2 valve heads and you need the 2 1/4-2 1/2 spacer tube .

But for the weight, the cast iron manifolds are quite good. They have better internal flow shapes than the SS logs. Grind the outlets to the size of the 32V gaskets, ~55mm, and they'll flow as well, or better.
I gained 50(!) rwtq on my '81, just by porting the outlets, and using slightly larger (2" vs. 1¾") head pipes from a '86 cat.

and another question.. will an ott x pipe bolt up to the early style manifolds? i think alex and i are thinking along similar lines here, we both have headers to fit to our 32 valve cars and we both have project 16 valvers as well for the cast offs from the 32 v.

I had an OTT X on my car with the stock manifolds for a while, fit OK. LOUD though.
Ken is talking about grinding the manifold ports where they meet the head, to match exhuast manifold to the port in the head. If you've got a ton of cash to burn, can always have them extrude-honed after that!
